• Provide a continuous field presence, spending much of each day at the work front, to both enable and support the contractor, with timely HSE intervention and demonstrated Care for People.
• Single point accountable for Structural Engineer performance and progress.
• Support overall Structural Engineer work planning effort by collaborating directly with the Main Works Contractor’s supervisory personnel and field engineers to deliver efficient and safe execution through detailed work front planning at 90-day, 3 weeks look ahead, weekly and daily Plan of the Day sessions.
• Ensure, through interface with the Main Works Contractor’s team, that Installation Work Packages are reviewed for efficiency and constraints are proactively addressed to support robust 90-day work face analysis.
• Proactively resolve construction interface issues, such as permit applications and validity.
• Monitor the Main Works Contractor’s equipment and resource availability and help plan accordingly.
• Develop/adopt as required more detailed measuring tools and KPI’s over and above standard quantity and progress reporting (analysis) to monitor, assess and drive performance.
• Ensure the Main Works Contractor executes in accordance with the schedule by monitoring and validating physical progress reported.
• Support the Main Works Contractor’s supervisory personnel and field engineers to ensure that installation/construction meets the requisite quality standards and specifications including programs such as “Build it Clean, Keep it Clean”.
• Drive KPI compliance and improvement with respect to productivity, schedule attainment and material delays.
• Prime focal point with Main Works Contractor’s superintendents, field engineers, engineers, Engineers of Record and inspectors to resolve in a timely manner any field changes, Non-Conformances or other issues to ensure that the Construction Engineering function is the main conduit of feedback to the constructor (Construction Engineers owns the relationship with the Main Works Contractor’s supervisory personnel and field engineers to avoid confusion).
• Ensure the timely mobilization and de-mobilization of vendor support where necessary for “right the first time” installation of equipment and packages where necessary.
• Provide feedback to Construction Manager on the efficiency and capability of the Main Works Contractor Field Non-Manual team.
• Drive Time on Tools (efficiency improvements) with the Main Works Contractor’s supervisory personnel and the continuous assessment of craft staffing levels and supervision ratio to provide efficient and safe working
• Act as the focal point for resolution of quality control issues raised by discipline inspectors.
• Provide guidance to Construction team on Critical equipment/system preservation and interfaces with preservation team to ensure preservation defects are acted upon.
• Ensure re-work is correctly identified and captured within Project Controls organization and work with Main Works Contractor to identify ways to prevent re-work in the field.
• Participates in Lessons Learned and look back process.


Qualifications and Education Requirements
• At least 5 years field Structural Engineer experience in construction supervision or field engineering or turnaround/maintenance from early construction through to ready for commissioning phases.
• Strong construction supervisory skills with an in depth understanding of field planning, productivity and safety.
• Large/Mega project and Union experience essential.
• Specific Discipline competence (e.g. college degree is preferable, but not required)
• Demonstrated collaborative work ethic with a solution orientated mindset
• Demonstrated Team player – relationships are critical to the success of this role. Maintaining and assuming strong relationships among project teams among times of high energy and stress.
• Demonstrated use of IT systems to manage performance
• He or she must be highly self-motivated and be prepared to spend long working hours including weekends on the construction site
