System Safety Engineer; MIL STD 882 (550)

Description:
*This is a full time, 1 year contract, located in Orlando*



We are hiring for a contract System Safety Engineer who will ensure Missile Systems sold to customers are safe for use. The responsibilities will be to conduct preliminary, system hazard, subsystem, operating and functional Hazard and Fault Tree Analysis per MIL-STD-882.



Daily work may include developing system safety risk assessments, hazard tracking database flow downs to suppliers, audits, recommend safety features and controls for system design, software, training and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards including developing safety documents to support customer and test/operational range requirements, work with accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions, evaluates the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost effective program.


Additional work will include conducting safety check lists and inspections, supporting design & test readiness reviews and safety working group meetings, preparing data packages and briefing material for Customer System Safety Review Boards and identification and maintenance of Critical Items List.



Required
*5 years’ experience in System / Mission Safety in an aerospace or defense subcontracting capacity; experience with MIL-STD 882.
*US Citizens only, will apply and gain a clearance upon starting.
*Experience conducting Mission / System Safety analysis including design, audits, testing and verification; Safety, Preliminary, Threat, Flight Test Safety Assessment and Fault Tree Hazard Analysis
*Familiar with bent pin and energy trace analysis
*Engineering Degree



Pluses:
*Experience in AMCOM 385-17 or AOP 52 Safety Analysis and implementation programs
*Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
*Missile or weapon system familiarity.
*Experience in preparing technical system safety documentation and presenting safety case to the SSSTRP or equivalent safety boards
*Experience creating sustaining system safety program plans.
*Active Secret Clearance
