Job Title: Electrical Engineer or Designer NX 3D Wire Routing
Location: Portland, OR. 97217
Duration: 0-12 Months
Description:
• Lead the design and development of initiatives within the Cab Structure group-
• Self-starter who provides creative, technically-feasible designs & concepts that satisfy customer needs while adhering to Engineering standards and strategic direction
• Use NX and other design tools to create 3D package models, concept geometry & detailed part design as needed
• Identify proper materials, tolerances, finishes, fasteners, and production methods for new designs
• Interface with Engineering personnel including the Chassis & Mechatronics Departments to ensure packaging needs are identified
• Work with Engineering Analysis on FEA of cab structure designs to determine the most effective and economic solution
• Interface with suppliers in the design/development phase, tool build, and into production
• Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and the manufacturing plants on cab-in-white assembly processes
• Improve competitive market position by keeping abreast of state-of-the-art developments in the trucking industry and applying the new knowledge to designs. Strive to reduce the complexity of our products
• Develop, release, and maintain accurate Engineering documentation
• Prioritize assignments consistent with business goals and successfully implement projects on time and within budget. Proactively inform management of project issues, delays and risks
• Generate and implement ideas to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality
• Provide technical & feasibility information to Customer Application Engineering, Sales, and Marketing related to customer orders

Basic Qualifications:

• Associates degree + 4 yrs experience OR 8 yrs of related trucking experience
• Required Knowledge and Experience
• Demonstrated CAD (NX) expertise, including class ‘A’ surface development, solid modeling, advanced parametric modeling and digital mock-up
• Ability to work with other Engineering functions to reconcile conflicting designs into robust and cost effective solutions
• Demonstrated strong integrity, written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of Engineering & upstream/downstream processes

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

• 10+ years of design experience in the truck, automotive or aerospace industries including prototype, production and concept vehicles
• Catia V5 CAD design experience.
• Demonstrated history of developing creative and innovative design solutions for Cab Engineering systems & components (Cab-in-White structures including cabs/sleepers/roofcaps, door systems, mechanisms, glazing)
• Experience with benchmarking against competitor products
• Experience designing metal parts in multiple processes (ex: class ‘A’ steel & aluminum body stampings, press brake sheet metal, castings, extrusions, welded & riveted structural assemblies, etc.)
• Experience designing plastic & composite parts in multiple processes (ex: injection molding, compression molding, spray-up, RIM, vacuum forming, etc.)
• Demonstrated history of designing and releasing Cab Engineering parts for successful launch & production
• Experience with detailed 2D part/ assembly drawings, GD&T and installation diagrams
• Knowledge of vehicle assembly plant processes
