Principal Software Engineer

Description:
Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications/operating systems utilizing LabVIEW/NI hardware and Veristand. Experience in controlling hardware in a testing environment, with special attention to safe operation and failure mode protections. Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 8+ years of experience in the field for Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. May report to an executive or a manager.

The person who support LabVIEW updates and maintenance for our department left the company. Currently, it has five test cells at Aero Engines with LabVIEW facility control systems, one at Santan, the Fire Test Facility and three in Tucson. Each of these systems needs periodic maintenance, which requires a solid background in LabVIEW programming to be successful. One system needs to be moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and LabVIEW 2010 to LabVIEW 2020, and needs to be re-invented to make this transition.

There are two Actuator programs written in LabVIEW supporting the NG-Core test, the Hyper II test, and the -714c compressor rig test. These need to be updated and maintained throughout testing.

We are now beyond a single point of failure if any of these critical systems goes down. Both development and production cells are at risk of holding up testing if they have a failure in their facility control systems.
