Senior Systems Engineer - Hydraulics

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Engineering manager, supervisor or director, the Systems Engineer III will support a development and certification program for a new commercial aircraft. The primary function will be to generate systems requirements, system architecture, and proposed placement in the aircraft for the system that will achieve compliance to all applicable regulatory & customer requirements. The Systems Engineer III is expected the candidate will provide guidance and direction to other engineers within the team and oversee their work.

Hydraulic Systems: Possesses a recognizable breadth and depth of expertise in Hydraulic systems, both architecture and installation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Systems Engineer III will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complex tasks in the following areas:

Has been involved with a developmental and/or certification of recent aircraft program.
Has a detailed understanding of the regulatory requirements applicable to the discipline.
The ability and knowledge to develop FAA certification plans.
Able to interpret regulatory requirements and determine a method of compliance on a component or a system level.
Able to review, critique, modify system requirements and conference with applicable aircraft design system technical experts, flight test pilots and DERs to demonstrate that production components and flight test equipment meet regulatory requirements.
Able to perform root cause analysis and engage in resolution activities to overall system and flight test equipment operation activities.
Expected to be proactive and define the detail tasks necessary to accomplish task completion with minimal direction.
Has a proven track record of managing a team of Engineers.
Can prepare schedules and report status on assigned work packages.
Can identify, assess and report on program risks.
Independently develops ideas and solutions to promote the success of the program.
Serves as a technical resource to the team.
Has industry contacts that can facilitate the exchange of ideas and solutions.
Has strong communication skills and the ability to participate and lead a team composed of individuals from different countries and cultures.
Directs work of others and acts as lead.
Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field is preferred and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in Systems or 15+ years of experience in the Aerospace Industry or related field.
Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience is desirable.
Advanced working knowledge of MS Office products.
Basic working knowledge of CATIA V5.

Physical Requirements: Individual must be able to sit for extended periods of time, working at a desk and/or attending meetings. May occasionally require employee to stand and/or walk and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Will need to be able to move throughout the office and talk/hear or otherwise communicate with other employees and management. Work will be performed in an office environment.
