EWIS Engineer

Role Description


This position is for an engineer that will perform EWIS design and integration tasks associated with the Electrical Systems used on Engineering Flight Simulator (EFS) and its simulation host equipment. The aircraft simulator is a static SIM with a representative cockpit environment, avionics & flight controls integrated systems, visual system and simulation host computers running the performance and aero models from an Aircraft. This position is located in Moses Lake, WA.



Job Duties and Responsibilities

Perform as a technical authority in Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) design applied to an Engineering Flight Simulator (EFS);
Modify, Rework and Fabricate wire harness assemblies for EFS.
Assist as the cognizant engineer responsible for all aspects of an EWIS design;
Modify and maintain wiring diagrams, installation drawings, cable/wire assembly drawings, harness fabrication drawings by translating from aircraft electrical system schematics;
Select qualified electrical components such as Connectors, Backshells, shield coverage, strain reliefs, over-braid, and other parts.
Provide on-site engineering support and coordinate integration of EFS design change activities originated from EWIS requirements;
Investigate EWIS component/assembly failures and assist in resolving EWIS issues during any EFS testing;
Generate reports detailing the aircraft EWIS design/modifications/testing;
Complete special projects and tasks assigned by Group Lead.


Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Familiarity with industry specifications and standards associated with EWIS, including but not limited to electrical design for different aircraft systems, wiring diagram requirement definition, ESSDs, electrical assemblies and overall system development methodologies.
Experience with translating from existing aircraft system schematics and wiring diagrams;
Familiar with selection of components used in aerospace wire harness construction and installation;
Experience using dedicated tooling associated with wire harness manufacturing/assembly;
Capable of resolving technical issues relating to EWIS.
Experience with ENOVIA / CATIA V5/V6 Wiring Workbench or VISIO is preferred.
Proficient at prototyping new designs and performing rework.
Experience with surface mount components is preferred.
Represent Electrical Group in packaging meetings related to wiring harnesses;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Fluency with MS Office/SharePoint applications.
Education

Four (4) year degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Avionics, Electrical, or Instrumentation).
Other Engineering fields may be considered.
Experience

Aerospace Experience is required (5-7 years preferred) in aircraft Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) design
