Mechanical Design Engineer

Description:
JSG is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer - DIRECT HIRE for our client in Los Angeles, CA!

Position Summary:
Mechanical Design Engineer will complete mechanical engineering and design assignments for industrial machines.

Duties:

Plan and execute design and documentation tasks such as precision mechanical parts/assemblies and electro-mechanical design layouts as well as detail drawings, electronic packaging (sheet metal) design, bills of material, assembly drawings, engineering release packages
Develop product structures and bills of material for custom and standard products.
Evaluate and execute document change requests and supply engineering documentation to ECO documentation clerks for entry into ERP system.
Create updated bills of materials
Must coordinate own efforts with others, but this is not a supervisor position
Pre-sale activities include conceptual design, schedule, and cost estimation of semi-automated industrial laser processing workstations.
Conceptual design with assistance from others includes cycle time estimate, mechanical layout of the workstation, tooling concept, a block diagram of electronic controls, and the flowchart of overall man-machine interaction and machine functions.
Cost estimation includes estimation of NRE, RE, assembly, testing, and materials.

Requirements:

BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
5 years of mechanical engineering experience
Skilled with 3D solid modeling tools. Experience with SolidWorks
Ability to complete engineering calculations
Training and experience applying relevant ANSI standards to design and drafting documentation
Communicate well orally and in writing with customers and others with whom he/she works within and outside the Engineering department.
Ability to travel occasionally
