Mechanical Design Engineer

Description:
Summary:
The position is responsible for the design of cable processing equipment in addition to the purchase, assembly, fabrication, and verification of the equipment on the manufacturing or development line.
Involves the application of scientific and technological principles encompassed in mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design used for the design, production, operation, and use of machinery of all types.
Specific items that are designed, purchased or modified include, but are not limited to, wire payoffs, extruders, powder application, cable jacket removal, yarn spinners, LASER printers, and ink jet printers.
The position would require team work as well as individual work to accomplish the tasks in a timely manner.

The position also includes the development of a measurement system for verifying the alignment of process tools that are moved in and out of the line between manufacturing runs. In addition to controls specific work, the position would also work project teams to gather data on recently transferred products / processes to determine how the new product / process is performing on a statistical basis to aid technology.

Requirements:
Requires complete understanding and application of standard engineering or scientific theories, concepts, principles, and techniques. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
Works under minimal direction. Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions.
Work is reviewed generally upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Frequent inter organizational and/or external contacts.
Represents the organization.
Strong working relationships outside of immediate work group.

Education: BS Minimum
Work Schedule: M-F 8-5
Travel: Up to 25% of the work will be in Winston Salem
Experience: 7+ Years
Manager Must Haves:
-Experience with Autodesk Inventor
-Technical design of mechanical components and assemblies in an industrial environment
- Modify the equipment design based off of data analysis.
-Familiarity with fabrication techniques (machining, forming, welding, wire, etc.) to ensure that the equipment can be made in a cost effective manner.
-Individual must be capable of executing project assignments in a team based environment with minimal supervision.
