Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

PDS TECH is currently looking for a Chemical / Mfg Eng for our client in Garden Grove, CA

As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team you will be reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer and your role will be to support the day to day Operations Team within the Value Stream. This will include activities such as:

Responsible for manufacturing process improvement and implementation to reduce product defects and/or improve process efficiency.
Technical problem solving for processing anomalies or optical defects in acrylic and/or glass laminated assemblies.
Troubleshooting and refinement of manufacturing processes.
Support equipment upgrades and maintenance requirements.
Create equipment/facility maintenance procedures.
Transition new products from development to serial production.
Identify non-conformance causes and implement robust corrective actions.
Coordinate several process improvement, cost reduction and/or defect reduction projects. This includes using Lean Manufacturing techniques as well as Process Validation, Root Cause Analysis and Six Sigma Problem Solving skills to address manufacturing and quality issues.
Planning, design, and implementation of tooling to support manufacturing processes.
Document work instructions for operators and train personnel.
Disposition non-conforming material.
Generate or revise routers and bill of materials.
Develop and foster strong internal relationships throughout the organization to identify and resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
Provide a smooth interchange of ideas and information between supervisor, engineers, co-workers, and customers.
Support company values including ethical conduct and integrity in all actions.
Promote a continuous improvement culture.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (Polymers), Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering; chemical engineering is preferred.
6+ years of experience in an engineering (or equivalent) role.
U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to get access to special program

Additional Qualifications:
Material properties and material processing of acrylics or polymers preferred.
Experience with micrographic and/or chemical analysis of defects in acrylics or polymers preferred.
Experience supporting serial production programs preferred.
Computer skills including: Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Minitab (preferred), Visual Basic (preferred).
Ability to organize and implement multiple concurrent tasks.
Excellent communications skills.
Structured problem solving tools (PFMEA, DOE, 5-why, etc.).
Automation of processing equipment.
Experience in statistical analysis.
Experience in Six Sigma principles.
Knowledge of AS9100 and/or FAA requirements
