Principle Verification Engineer (WLAN/FDA)

Description:
Principal Engineer, Verification Lead

Primary Location: US-CA-San Diego Schedule: Full-time

Travel: Yes, 10 % of the Time Duration : 12 mos Contract-To-Hire

The Principal Engineer will lead a team of verification engineers in planning, developing, executing, and documenting software and hardware verification of the Communication Engine (CE).

The CE supports the wireless communication technologies (WLAN 802.11) which are integrated into the general infusion pump.

You will drive test strategy across distributed teams in a highly regulated healthcare environment.

You will also strive to enable automated test solutions that will support 24/7 continuous integration testing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Plan and organize testing activities around project needs and timelines
Provide technical leadership in developing test automation for the communications engine of a general infusion pump
Develop test strategies using industry best practices to effectively test the software and hardware of the communications engine
Act as subject matter expert in reporting status to V&V and site management detailing issues, risks, mitigations, and results
Work on special projects as they arise

MUST-HAVE Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge of configuring, analyzing, and testing wireless connectivity software (802.11 a/b/g/n)
Experience (4+ years) in using scripting languages (Ruby preferred)in automated testing solutions
Demonstrated ability to manage small teams in planning and organizing formal test activities
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Familiarity with best practices in Verification/Validation in a highly regulated environment
Android experience preferred
Educational Background

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline from an accredited college or university and 6+ years of experience
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience can substitute

Ultimate Responsibility:

Driving the test strategy, the coverage & performance of the network and ability to consider all facilities & human factors.
Will be working with teams both domestically & internationally
Will be working in the lab to test on the insulin pumps directly.
The hiring manager sees the definition of « A Principle Engineer » as a roadmap-setter of why we test it, how we test it, & what needs to be tested
MUST HAVE Wi-Fi background in testing on an Enterprise Wi-Fi network.
Must HAVE a systems perspective on how the device is to be used in the field (think of handheld devices that travel around the network and must keep perfect performance).
Thoughts to consider : Thinking about performance and response, does it work testing it over and over. Stability and stress testing. 24x7 working
Ideally needs to know how a Wi-Fi system runs in an Enterprise
Need to have Security Background as our team currently lacks this expertise.

What exactly will you be testing?

Use cases for CE.
Reliability, connection for uptime.
Roams from access point to access point to make sure that it is able to be connected well.
Running Andriod and using a Qualcomm implementation chipset.
