Marine Structure Designer 4

Description:
MUST BE A USA CITIZEN
Position Specifics: Must have recent experience in development of AutoCAD drawings for Naval Vessels. Experience level with hull structure on par with subject matter expert. Must have recent experience in ship checking Military vessels (LHD/LHA/LCS/LPD/CVN/Etc.) in the hull structure disciplines. Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM, Siemens NX or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. The Designer 4 will be responsible for developing and reviewing structural drawings. He/she will work independently, explain system characteristics, and provide technical guidance to Junior Designers. Travel up to 20% of the time to perform ship checks and surveys. The Designer will coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer experience with developing Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) structure drawings with the use of ISID, and experience with developing Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS) structure drawings with the use of Planning Yard Standard. 3D modeling experience preferred (Inventor, CATIA, Ship Constructor, Siemens NX, ETC.). Currently holds a Confidential (or higher level) Security Clearance. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances during site surveys. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift. Must be able to perform site surveys and carry a lap top computer.

Basic Qualifications: AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience. HS + 3 years related experience may be substituted for AA degree.
