Job Description:
- The Materials Review Board (MRB) Engineer will consider many aspects that would apply to the discrepant component, for example: functional interface, structural integrity, metallurgical and mechanical properties, aerodynamics, future operator and maintenance requirements, weight impact, cosmetic appearance, etc.
- Evaluate nonconforming material for acceptability and reparability to ensure flight-worthiness of the components.
- The MRB Engineer will provide written disposition of the hardware.
- In instances where the nonconformance is unacceptable and the component cannot be used as-is, the MRB Engineer will provide written rework or repair instructions necessary to rectify the noncompliant condition and return the component for a serviceable condition.
- All rework or repair instructions will be detailed and must include the necessary inspection methods and acceptance criteria.
- The engineer will coordinate and seek consultation with various subject matter experts.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluate nonconforming metallic structures components for acceptability and reparability to ensure flight worthiness of the components.
- Evaluate nonconformance for impact on component performance, functionality, service life, maintainability and various other possibilities.
- When acceptance of the nonconformance is not possible, develop a potential repair scheme and evaluate the repaired component for potential impact on component performance, functionality, service life, maintainability and various other possibilities.
- Development of a repair should minimize risk to the component and minimally invasive and within the capability of the production area accomplishing the repair.
- Repair dispositions must ensure component integrity and customer requirements are satisfied when the repair is accomplished as intended.
- Consult with various subject matter experts including potential customer interaction addressing the nonconformance and proposed disposition.
- Work with Production personnel such as Manufacturing Engineering to ensure repair disposition is understood, is feasible and can be accomplished as intended.
- Assist Production areas in the determination of root cause and potential corrective actions to prevent nonconformance.
- Work with team members to analyze nonconformance trend data, ensure the problem is understood, and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions.

Required Skills:
- 10+ years of MRB Engineering experience required. Potential 'split' shift responsibilities.
- Prior experience with aircraft design, manufacturing, assembly or repair as an MRB engineer.

MUST HAVE:
- BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.

Experience/Qualifications Required:
- Prior experience with aircraft design, manufacturing, assembly or repair as an MRB engineer

Preferred:
- Logical problem solver who is organized and detail oriented
- Ability to evaluate and make technical decisions with little outside input
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings and models (2D and 3D) and knows GD&T
- Good understanding of computing tools and programs including the use of Microsoft Office
- Familiar with PLM and ERP systems such as Teamcenter and SAP Familiar with many types of aircraft structure materials and fabrication processes
