Mechanism Design Engineer - Interiors

Description:
Seeking an experienced Mechanisms Design Engineer focused on design, performance, manufacturing coordination, and installation integration of mechanism designs. The initial opportunity is related to interior seats, but there are many other opportunities to follow.

Responsibilities:

• Capable of creating design requirements, validating them, and decomposing them into an integrated verification plan for compliance/certification.
• Contribute to conceptual and preliminary design trades of varying complexity and document results of work
• Develop parametric CATIA V5 models that can be used to refine final mechanical designs
• Capable of interpreting engineering schematics to drive detail designs
• Works closely with prototype shop as well as production shop personnel to optimize design concepts
• Able to work closely with Industrial Design Engineers to integrate aesthetic and creative design requirements into design
• Supports the review of production planning and procedures to ensure compliance with design requirements
• Contributes to the creation of test plans in order to verify design intent, requirements and functionality
• Working knowledge of industry best practices; including design specifications (commercial and DOD), regulatory guidance (FAA AC), and aerospace recommended practices
• Expected to present work and technical findings to management and senior leadership through design reviews and program milestones where appropriate

Qualifications:

• BS in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
• 6+ years of experience in preliminary design, performance and/or integration of mechanical installations
• Experience with CATIA V5 and the CATIA kinematics tools
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools
• Willingness to adapt and cross-train
• Strong team player with quality organization and pragmatic problem solving skills
• Expected to work independently as well with supervision given general guidance
• Experience with flight vehicles or vehicle systems certification to commercial standards (14 CFR Part 23 or 25) and/or military/government standards (DOD or NASA) is preferred
