PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an Engineering Configuration Management Specialist to support engineering product definition, project structuring, and Bill of Materials (BOM) management for complex industrial equipment. This opportunity is ideal for an engineering professional with experience in configuration management, product lifecycle systems, and technical documentation.

POSITION DETAILS

Location: Schenectady, NY
Pay Rate: $37.44 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

POSITION OVERVIEW

In this role, you will help create and maintain accurate product structures and Bills of Materials for steam turbine and generator projects. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and project teams to ensure product configurations are properly documented, project requirements are met, and technical information is delivered accurately and on schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and maintain Engineering Bills of Materials (EBOMs) and Unit Bills of Materials throughout the project lifecycle.

• Support the transfer of Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs) into enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

• Coordinate with engineering teams to transition project scope and configuration information following order release.

• Verify product configuration options and resolve discrepancies with engineering and configuration management teams.

• Support preliminary BOM reviews and validate standard parts against established configuration rules.

• Monitor BOM accuracy and address documentation or timing issues with manufacturing and sourcing teams.

• Participate in engineering change management and configuration control processes.

• Collaborate across departments to improve workflows, support Lean initiatives, and maintain product definition quality.

• Ensure configuration activities follow established procedures, processes, and contractual requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.

• Experience with product definition development, Bill of Materials management, or configuration management.

• Familiarity with project scope management, project scheduling, or field installation processes.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage detailed technical information.

• Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

• Knowledge of configuration management and engineering change control.

• Experience with BOM management and ERP systems.

• Ability to learn and implement new tools, systems, and processes.
