Project Management Specialist
Make an Impact Behind the Scenes of Aerospace
Location: Herndon, Virginia | Payrate: $48 - $52/hour
We’re not looking for someone who simply manages projects. We’re looking for a hands-on specialist who makes them happen.
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to find a resourceful, detail-oriented Project Management Specialist to support critical Human Resources initiatives tied to past and active mergers and acquisitions (M&A). This is an opportunity to play a vital role in bringing teams, processes, and people together while helping drive successful integration across a complex, global organization.
If you’re an organized problem-solver who thrives on keeping projects moving, connecting stakeholders, improving processes, and rolling up your sleeves to get things done, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!
YOUR MISSION: KEEP PEOPLE, PROCESSES & PROJECTS MOVING
As a key member of the Human Resources team, you’ll provide hands-on project management office (PMO) support for large-scale U.S. acquisition and post-merger integration workstreams. You’ll help translate strategic objectives into actionable plans, maintain visibility into project progress, and ensure critical milestones stay on track.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys execution as much as coordination—someone who can manage details, anticipate roadblocks, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and adapt quickly as priorities evolve. You don’t need to have every answer on day one, but you must bring the initiative, flexibility, and willingness to learn that keep complex projects moving forward.
HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM
Project Management & Acquisition Support — 60%
Provide hands-on HR project support for large-scale U.S. mergers and acquisitions, tracking talent milestones, resource schedules, project deliverables, and risk logs.
Maintain accurate, real-time project status updates for HR leadership and the M&A Program Management Office (PMO).
Coordinate activities across HR departments and other business functions to keep acquisition timelines, deliverables, and priorities aligned.
Collect, analyze, and visualize integration data to maintain dashboards and prepare weekly reports supporting 2026–2027 strategic objectives.
Execute essential project tasks, including auditing employee data migrations, reviewing compliance checklists, and tracking Day 1 operational readiness and post-acquisition integration activities.
Keep project management tools, documentation, and records updated daily to support data integrity, transparency, and audit readiness.
Identify process gaps, follow up on outstanding actions, and help resolve issues before they delay project progress.
Administrative & Compliance Governance — 30%
Schedule and facilitate project meetings, document discussions, capture detailed action items, and follow up with owners to drive timely completion.
Maintain organized project records, trackers, and supporting documentation.
Assist with gathering documentation related to U.S. labor law compliance and regulatory filings associated with acquisition activities.
Support consistent project governance, reporting, and documentation standards across workstreams.
Change Management & Communication — 5%
Help coordinate HR integration activities across U.S., global teams, regional teams, and other business functions.
Support clear, timely communication between stakeholders to facilitate a smooth transition for newly acquired employee groups.
Help teams navigate evolving processes, shifting priorities, and integration requirements.
Additional HR Initiatives — 5%
Support HR teams on other key improvement projects and operational priorities.
Take ownership of assigned tasks, adapt to changing needs, and contribute wherever hands-on support is needed most.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TEAM
We’re looking for a proactive, dependable specialist who combines strong organizational skills with a practical, get-it-done mindset.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
7+ years of experience managing or supporting HR projects.
3+ years of experience supporting or implementing mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
Experience working within complex, matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage project trackers, documentation, milestones, schedules, and action items with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear status updates, coordinate across teams, and follow up effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify roadblocks, keep deliverables moving, and adjust plans as priorities change.
A hands-on, execution-focused approach—you’re comfortable doing the work, not just overseeing it.
A willingness to learn new tools, understand unfamiliar processes, and adapt quickly in a changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the aerospace industry.
Previous experience in another HR function, such as Benefits, Talent Acquisition, or Learning & Development.
Familiarity with post-merger integration, employee data migration, organizational transitions, and Day 1 readiness activities.
Knowledge of change management principles and practices.
Experience supporting compliance documentation, governance processes, dashboards, and project reporting.
Important: Prior HR and aerospace industry experience is preferred, but the right combination of relevant project and M&A experience, adaptability, and a hands-on mindset matters most.
