REMOTE Sr Loads and Dynamics Engineer

Description:
Senior Loads & Dynamics Analyst

Join an advanced aerospace propulsion engineering team focused on developing and validating loads and dynamic environments for solid rocket motors, vehicle applications, and propulsion systems. This role is ideal for an experienced analyst with hands-on structural dynamics expertise who can develop loads, correlate analytical models with testing, and support products from development through production.

Position: Senior Loads & Dynamics Analyst
Location: Northern Colorado
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, typically 3-4 days onsite; remote candidates may be considered with monthly travel or an initial remote arrangement followed by relocation to Colorado
Employment Type: 6-month contract-to-hire
Compensation: Senior level: $58-$64/hour target with some flexibility; Staff level: $70-$83/hour target with some flexibility
Conversion Salary: Senior level: $111,000-$138,000; Staff level: $145,000-$170,000

Overview
The Senior Loads & Dynamics Analyst will perform loads development across multiple motors supporting vehicle and propulsion applications. The role requires experience developing and assessing dynamic environments, performing component- and system-level dynamics analyses, validating structural models against test data, and propagating loads to vehicle and motor components. The analyst will also support the transition of products from development into low-rate and full-rate production, including assessment of nonconforming hardware, while contributing technical guidance and best practices across a multidisciplinary analysis team.

Essential Functions
• Perform loads development for motor and vehicle programs.
• Lead load spectrum development for service-life assessments.
• Assess motor performance under dynamic environments including random vibration and shock.
• Perform component- and system-level dynamics analysis.
• Develop, verify, and validate structural models.
• Work closely with test teams to identify tests and instrumentation required to anchor analytical models.
• Process and interpret test data in support of dynamic analysis and model validation.
• Propagate loads to vehicle and motor components.
• Develop load cases and characterize acceleration, vibration, thrust, shock, and other applicable dynamic environments.
• Perform analyses including modal, frequency-response, transient-response, vibration, shock, and dynamic-load assessments as applicable.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop processes, models, and analytical tools that meet requirements and structural standards.
• Support manufacturing teams in assessing nonconforming development and flight hardware and recommending dispositions or repairs.
• Develop and improve analytical methods and tools.
• Lead verification and validation efforts and provide technical feedback to design teams.
• Support the transition of hardware from development through low-rate and full-rate production.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and professional development to engineering peers.
• Expand into adjacent analytical disciplines, such as thermo-structural analysis, when needed to support the multidisciplinary team.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of structural analysis experience.
• Recent, relevant experience developing or working with dynamic analysis models.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more areas such as structural dynamics, dynamic loads, acoustics, modal analysis, random vibration, sine vibration, or shock response.
• Ability to develop or assess loads and dynamic environments rather than solely applying externally provided loads to static structural models.
• Experience with analytical deliverables such as load reports, interface loads, acceleration profiles, modal or frequency-response results, and vibration or shock environments.
• Ability to support dynamic model verification and validation using analytical and test data.
• Effective technical communication skills supporting engineering recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
• General finite element model development and model-grounding experience.
• Low-cycle fatigue analysis experience, including strain-life approaches.
• Finite Element Analysis experience using commercial tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or NASTRAN-based solvers.
• Experience with Femap/Nastran.
• Experience with the ANSYS FEA suite.
• Fracture mechanics experience involving crack growth, safe-life assessment, linear elastic fracture mechanics, or NASGRO.
• Experience defining self-induced dynamic environments for solid rocket motors.
• Experience taking components through dynamic acceptance and qualification testing.
• Experience with solid rocket motors or related aerospace propulsion systems.
• Strong theoretical foundation in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and/or compressible flow.
• Experience supporting safety-critical systems in production environments.
• Experience supporting failure investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Experience working effectively in fast-paced engineering environments.
• Thermal-structural static analysis experience, particularly involving nonlinear materials and large strains.
• Knowledge of composite materials, insulation, and ablative thermal protection systems.

Reasonable Accommodation
Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals as appropriate to enable performance of the essential functions of the position.
