Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Sheet Metal Workers for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): o Three years of experience as a first-class Sheet Metal Worker in the installation of foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, shipboard furniture and sheet metal fabrication shop work. o Ability to comprehend complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches to include weld symbols, material types, datum and reference lines. o Ability to comprehend fractional and decimal dimensions as with the use of a ruler. o Ability to layoff piece parts for fabrication and assembly. o Ability to assemble piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner. o Experience working in a physically demanding environment. o Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry. o Experience using small hand tools (electric drills, grinders, rivet guns), and shop equipment (drill press, press break, shears etc.). o PPE training means general requirements, eye and face protection, head protection, foot protection, hand and body protection, hearing protection, and body harness-personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) and position device systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): o Rigger/Material Handling o Mobile Equipment (JLG, Scissor Lift, etc.) o Shipboard experience preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma/GED is required. School must be accredited.
