PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to find an Upholstery Technician who takes pride in precision craftsmanship and wants to help create exceptional aircraft interiors.
This is an opportunity to bring your hands-on skills to a highly specialized environment where quality, attention to detail, and craftsmanship matter. Under moderate supervision, you’ll fabricate and install upholstery, carpet, cover panels, and related aircraft interior components using engineering drawings and aircraft specifications.
Your Impact
As an Upholstery Technician, you’ll play an important role in transforming aircraft interiors from components into finished, polished spaces. Your work will directly support the safety, quality, appearance, and functionality of aircraft interiors while ensuring every installation meets stringent design, customer, FAA, and company requirements.
What You’ll Do
Perform technical upholstery functions in accordance with design, customer, FAA, and company specifications.
Fabricate and install upholstery, cover panels, and aircraft interior components.
Fit and install:
Cabin headliners
Upper and lower side panels
Hatch panels
Windows
Bulkhead coverings
Carpet and other interior components
Cut, serge, and install aircraft carpeting.
Create carpet patterns using design drawings and engineering documentation.
Fabricate various metal parts and support panel covering and installation.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and aircraft specifications.
Use measuring tools and perform basic mathematical calculations to ensure accurate fabrication and installation.
Operate commercial sewing machines, sergers, and various hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades.
Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and complete required sign-offs.
Maintain a strong focus on workmanship, quality, safety, and compliance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
Must-Have Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently.
1 year of quality inspection experience OR 2 years of GAC manufacturing experience required.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math computations.
Basic computer literacy.
Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing/aerospace environment.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work in small or restricted areas.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability and willingness to work any shift.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent aerospace experience.
Experience using commercial sewing machines.
Experience using sergers.
Experience with hand tools used in upholstery or carpet trades.
Previous aircraft interior or upholstery experience.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
