Methods & Materials Engineer – Wichita

Description:
Seeking an experienced Methods & Materials Engineer for a fully on-site, contract-to-hire opportunity supporting defense operations in Wichita, Kansas. The role requires at least five years of relevant tool-design experience and experience working with both 2D and 3D drawings. Overtime may be available but is not guaranteed. On-site interviews are preferred for local candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Define efficient methods to fabricate and assemble components for kit requirements.
- Work with design and methods teams on tool-design activities using CATIA.
- Prepare concepts for interchangeability and part replacement.
- Determine requirements for new manufacturing equipment and support implementation.
- Review evolving certification standards and industry practices to support process improvements.
- Incorporate advancements into departmental processes and procedures.
- Monitor project workflows and adjust personnel assignments to support project activities.
- Provide technical training and departmental assistance.
- Ensure new documentation incorporates company and departmental policies.
- Lead program reviews, cost-reduction initiatives, system modifications, and data management.
- Serve as the Methods/Material focal point for rough-order-of-magnitude estimates for proposed projects and programs.
- Develop creative solutions to technical and business problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Required Qualifications:
- At least five years of relevant tool-design experience, working with design and methods teams.
- Experience with both 2D and 3D drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, parts, and installation locations.
- Thorough knowledge of CATIA V4 and/or V5, including modeling and analysis.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing fundamentals and related technical principles.
- Thorough knowledge of material requirements planning and supply-chain management.
- Thorough knowledge of CAS, SAP, MACPAC, and OSDB databases.
- Basic project-management skills and the ability to collaborate within and across departments.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work fully on-site in Wichita, Kansas.
Education:
- University degree preferred; college education is also acceptable.
