PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Assembly Mechanic to join our team in Wichita, KS, partnering with a leader in the aviation industry.



This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled aircraft mechanic to perform precision assembly, installation, repair, sealing, inspection, and functional testing on aircraft structures and systems. You'll work from detailed engineering documentation while helping ensure every component meets critical quality, fit, form, and function requirements.

What You'll Do



As an Assembly Mechanic, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:




  • Assemble, install, seal, rig, inspect, and complete precision aircraft structural and system components.
  • Perform work using drawings, sketches, charts, work instructions, process specifications, quality requirements, and other technical documentation.
  • Support 737 lower lobe and sub-assembly work.
  • Perform functional testing and correct the fit, form, and function of assemblies and components.
  • Use shop mathematics, precision measuring tools, and test instruments to complete assignments.
  • Utilize appropriate tooling to assemble components into subassemblies and finished items.
  • Verify completed work meets engineering specifications, process requirements, and work instructions.
  • Identify and document discrepancies according to established procedures.
  • Set up and operate conventional and/or CNC fastening equipment involving less than simultaneous three-axis movement.
  • Perform assembly and installation of structures, sealing, and subassembly operations.
  • Support specialty work that may include:

    • Door assembly and installation
    • Integral fuel cell sealing
    • Precision bench assembly
    • Pressure and vacuum testing


  • Ensure equipment and tooling certifications are maintained according to procedure.
  • Perform routine minor machine and equipment maintenance as required.
  • Move products safely within the manufacturing area and complete necessary transactions to advance products to the next operation.
  • Complete assigned work within established production schedules.
  • Support continuous product flow by assisting and training employees across classification levels.
  • Assist with training other personnel on assembly, installation, and inspection techniques.
  • Cross-train in inspection activities and work toward SIA qualification.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, precision, and productivity.


Required Qualifications



We're looking for experienced candidates who bring:




  • 5–10 years of relevant aircraft assembly, repair, modification, or mechanical experience.
  • Solid aircraft repair mechanic experience.
  • Experience performing structural assembly, installation, repair, or related aircraft manufacturing work.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to use precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics.
  • Experience using hand tools, assembly tooling, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to work safely while maintaining high quality and production standards.
  • Ability to work in confined and restricted-access areas of an aircraft.
  • Physical ability to frequently bend, kneel, work near or on the ground, and maneuver into tight spaces to access aircraft components.
  • Ability to perform work within established schedules and production requirements.


Preferred Qualifications



Candidates may stand out with experience in one or more of the following:




  • 737 aircraft experience.
  • 737 lower lobe or subassembly experience.
  • Aircraft structural repair and modification.
  • Assembly and installation of aircraft structures.
  • Aircraft sealing or integral fuel cell sealing.
  • Precision bench assembly.
  • Door assembly and installation.
  • Pressure and vacuum testing.
  • CNC or conventional fastening equipment.
  • Aircraft inspection and quality processes.
  • Training or mentoring other aircraft assembly personnel.

Pay Details: $42.85 per hour
