PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an accomplished Systems Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA, partnering with a leader in the aviation, aerospace, and defense industry.
In this high-impact role, you will help design and develop state-of-the-art, space-based communication systems supporting commercial, civil, and national security programs. You'll work alongside highly skilled engineering teams and collaborate with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists throughout the system life cycle.

What You'll Do
As a Systems Engineer supporting DSP algorithms and advanced satellite communications, you will:
Design and develop next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems.
Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point signal processing algorithms.
Conduct detailed performance analysis of signal processing models.
Perform waveform development and characterization.
Conduct technical trade studies to evaluate and optimize potential solutions.
Support integration and testing of payloads and spacecraft, from the unit level through in-orbit operations.
Support HDL-level design and verification activities.
Perform detailed system design, analysis, and verification.
Contribute throughout the engineering life cycle, including concept studies, system definition, satellite unit development, and testing.
Collaborate with customers, suppliers, program management, systems engineers, integration and test teams, and senior technical experts.
Lead engineering teams and technical initiatives as required.
Lead or support Internal Research & Development (IR&D) activities.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance while contributing to a highly collaborative engineering environment.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates should have:
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of experience with core digital communications and signal processing theory.
Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and digital communications algorithms and techniques, such as:
Equalization
Turbo/Viterbi coding and decoding
Channel estimation
Filter design
Resampling theory
3+ years of experience with MATLAB or Simulink.
3+ years of systems engineering experience, including requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture design, and trade studies.
1+ years of experience working with FPGAs or ASICs.
Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates may stand out with:
Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and spectrum analyzers.
Previous experience leading teams of engineers.
Experience supporting satellite, spacecraft, RF, or digital communication systems.
Experience with system integration, verification, and testing.
9+ years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Advanced technical education and experience aligned with one of the following:
Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of relevant experience
Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience
PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience
Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or another applicable technical field.

Pay Details: $67.78 per hour
