Overview

PDS Tech Commercial is hiring an experienced CNC Programmer to support an industry-leading advanced manufacturing operation in Greenville, SC. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled programming professional who thrives in a high-precision environment and enjoys solving complex machining challenges on large-format equipment used in aerospace and industrial applications.

In this role, you'll be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and supporting sophisticated CNC machining processes that directly impact quality, productivity, safety, and operational excellence. What You'll Do

As a CNC Programmer, you'll provide programming, process development, and technical shop-floor support for advanced CNC machining operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and optimize CNC programs utilizing Siemens NX CAM and related software platforms.

  • Develop programs for:

    • Large Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) up to 2.5 meters

    • Large Vertical Boring Mills (VBMs) up to 2.5 meters

    • Large head-head gantry 5-axis machining centers

    • Multi-purpose turn/grind machining equipment

  • Program complex multi-axis operations including:

    • 3+2 machining

    • 5-axis simultaneous milling

    • Turning

    • Grinding

    • EDM processes

  • Verify and validate new CNC programs using Vericut prior to shop floor release.

  • Implement Renishaw probing cycles for process validation, part verification, and error trapping.

  • Support tooling, fixturing, and machine process improvements.

  • Troubleshoot CNC programs and provide technical support to operators and manufacturing teams.

  • Assist with new machine startups, rebuild projects, and operator training.

  • Create and maintain work instructions, methods documentation, and CNC process standards.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, machinists, operators, and cross-functional teams to drive operational success.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience with graphical CAM system CNC programming.

  • Strong CNC program development experience using a CAM platform.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.

  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and shop mathematics skills, including geometry and trigonometry.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following experience will stand out:

  • Siemens NX CAM programming experience (highly preferred).

  • Experience creating 5-axis CNC programs utilizing CAM software.

  • Hands-on machinist background with the ability to personally set up and prove out complex first-article programs.

  • Experience with:

    • Renishaw probing routines

    • Macro programming

    • Variable-based programming

    • Closed Loop Machining (CLM)

  • Experience machining difficult materials such as:

    • Inconel

    • Rene alloys

    • Hastelloy

    • Other nickel-based superalloys

  • Background supporting aerospace, heavy-duty gas turbine, or similar high-precision manufacturing environments.

  • Experience using Vericut or other CNC simulation and verification software.

  • Familiarity with multiple controls including:

    • Fanuc

    • Haas

    • Okuma

    • Siemens

  • Proven success maintaining tight tolerances on large-format machining equipment.

Pay Details: $62.58 per hour
