Chipton-Ross is seeking a Lab Technician for a contract opportunity in Moorestown, NJ.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): • Lab Competency: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a materials characterization or mechanical testing laboratory environment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions. Exclude technicians working in production or quality assurance.• Sample Preparation: Execute precise sectioning, mounting, grinding, and polishing of metal alloys, composites, and electronics assemblies for microstructural analysis. Conduct metallographic acid etching as required • Materials Characterization: Operate sophisticated analytical tools to support Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Thermal Analysis platforms (DSC/TGA/DMA/TMA). • Mechanical Testing: Conduct mechanical testing on metals, composites, elastomers, and other materials in accordance with ASTM standards and/or LM internal procedures. Bond strain gages as required • Data Logging & Documentation: Compile raw data into technical presentations, record and communicate observations • Physical Material Handling: Safely install test fixtures and sub-assemblies under test • Equipment Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine calibration and preventative maintenance on materials characterization platforms, environmental chambers, and other lab infrastructure
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): • Prior experience evaluating mechanical test results and operating mechanical load frames (Instron). • Experience conducting failure analysis activity. • Familiarity with aerospace/military specifications and industry standards (ASTM). • Strong communication skills
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Accredited Bachelor's Degree or Accredited Master's Degree.
WORK HOURS: Full-Time; 4/10-1st Shift.
