Production Manager
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Production Manager for a direct opportunity in Buena Park, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Seven or more years of progressive manufacturing operations experience, including at least three years leading supervisors or significant production teams.
Demonstrated ownership of safety, quality, delivery, cost, labor, capacity, and continuous improvement in a complex manufacturing environment.
Experience managing production schedules, priority changes, work in process, shortages, recovery plans, and cross-functional escalations.
Working knowledge of ERP or MRP systems, production metrics, labor planning, work orders, routings, and controlled manufacturing documentation.
Strong leadership, accountability, problem solving, conflict management, communication, and employee development skills.
Ability to work full time onsite, support off-shift or weekend needs, and respond to urgent production conditions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead daily assembly production and translate customer, backlog, and schedule requirements into staffing, workstation, material, tooling, and execution priorities.
Manage and develop production supervisors, team leaders, and assigned employees; establish expectations, coach performance, and build accountability for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Own production results including schedule attainment, on time delivery, throughput, yield, scrap, rework, labor efficiency, overtime, work in process, and past due recovery.
Conduct daily operating reviews, confirm constraints and owners, and drive recovery actions for shortages, quality holds, equipment downtime, tooling, documentation, staffing, and outside processing delays.
Partner with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Program Management, and Customer Service to align assembly priorities and protect customer commitments.
Ensure work is performed to approved drawings, routers, work instructions, inspection requirements, customer flow downs, and configuration-controlled documentation.
Maintain readiness for customer and quality audits and ensure timely containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, and recurrence prevention.
Develop capacity, staffing, cross-training, overtime, equipment, and shift plans that support current demand and production growth.
Drive lean manufacturing, standardized work, visual management, workplace organization, setup reduction, flow, and problem-solving improvements.
Promote a safe and respectful workplace, enforce company policies consistently, and partner with HR on employee development, attendance, performance, and employee relations.
Manage operating expenses and provide input on capital, tooling, headcount, and resource requirements.
Communicate program performance, risks, and recovery plans clearly to operations leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Perform other related duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Bachelor degree in operations, engineering, business, supply chain, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience supporting complex customer requirements, customer reviews, or program execution.
Experience leading assembly operations, production cells, lean flow, standardized work, first article readiness, and regulated quality systems.
