CMM DIP Inspector
Chipton-Ross is seeking a CMM DIP Inspector for a direct opportunity in Buena Park, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
One or more years of dimensional inspection, quality, machining, manufacturing, or related technical experience; relevant technical education may substitute for some experience.
Basic experience using common precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
Ability to read basic engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, part numbers, revisions, and manufacturing documentation.
Basic computer skills and willingness to learn CMM software, inspection reporting, and electronic quality systems.
Strong attention to detail, math skills, organization, integrity, and willingness to stop and ask questions when results are uncertain.
Ability to follow controlled instructions, maintain traceability, and work effectively with Quality and Production employees.
Ability to work full time onsite on the assigned shift.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform in-process, first piece, final DIP, and other assigned dimensional inspections using established procedures and inspection plans.
Load and run approved CMM programs under guidance, verify the correct program and revision, establish required part orientation, and safely position or fixture components.
Review CMM output for completeness and obvious variation, compare results with drawing or inspection requirements, and escalate questionable or out-of-tolerance results.
Use calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, pin gages, thread gages, bore gages, surface plates, and other calibrated inspection equipment appropriate to the feature being measured.
Read part numbers, revisions, drawings, basic GD & T callouts, work orders, routers, specifications, and inspection documentation.
Document inspection results accurately and maintain required traceability, acceptance records, reports, stamps, and electronic transactions.
Verify that measuring equipment is within calibration and in suitable condition before use; protect equipment from damage and report concerns promptly.
Identify and control nonconforming or suspect material in accordance with established procedures and notify Quality and Production personnel.
Support first article inspection data collection, ballooned drawing review, and completion of dimensional results under direction.
Work with experienced inspectors and CMM personnel to learn part alignment, datum structures, probe qualification, program navigation, result interpretation, and basic troubleshooting.
Maintain a clean, organized inspection area and handle parts in a manner that prevents damage, contamination, or loss of traceability.
Communicate inspection status, workload, missing documentation, and production priorities clearly to Quality and Operations.
Follow all safety, quality, customer, configuration control, and export control requirements and perform other related duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Technical certificate or coursework in metrology, machining, manufacturing, quality, engineering technology, or a related field.
Exposure to CMM operation, PC DMIS, Calypso, or comparable metrology software.
Familiarity with GD & T, first article inspection, surface plate inspection, CNC machined parts, castings, or aerospace quality requirements.
