Job Description: - Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating Quality Assurance functions throughout the Quality Management System. Work closely with customers and assigned value streams to introduce new products, reduce waste and eliminate process/product issues. Implement quality procedures, policies, systems and methods to assure the quality requirements of customers are being met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES include the following. Other closely related duties may be assigned.
• Support maintenance of comprehensive quality system.
• Lead and/or participate in activities associated with root cause investigation for product and process defects.
• Ensure best practice of new product introduction and process validation.
• Coordinate lab testing for verification and validation of raw materials.
• Assist in tool design as needed for process inspections.
• Perform standard quality engineering tasks with include but not limited to:
• Non-conforming material disposition
• Non-conforming cost/trend analysis
• Corrective/preventive action
• Customer/internal MRB
• Process improvements (includes scrap reduction)
• Automation of systems
• Inspection criteria
• Specification and contract review
• Communication to and training of personnel
• While operating in the boundaries of Lean Principles, lead, guide, and direct lean implementation and training initiatives, including 6S, TPM, Kaizen, Flow Manufacturing, JIT, Kanban, and Rapid Improvement Workshops.
• Operate at all times in compliance with Hexcel Pottsville’s Actively Caring Safety Program and Quality Management System.
• Comply with Hexcel policies, procedures and Code of Business Conduct.
• Perform similar job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor Degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Statistics, or related degree is required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in production or quality or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong leadership and has the ability to work effectively with engineering, production personnel, and management.
• Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good math and analytical skills including a working knowledge of statistical techniques (SPC, SQC, DOE).
• Ability to analyze and resolve process issues.
• Root cause investigation experience.
• Ability to read drawings, interpret written procedures and instruction.
• Ability to understand geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T).
• Knowledge of AS9100/ISO and NADCAP preferred.
• Knowledge of quality systems, supplier management, internal audits, and overall troubleshooting or problem solving capabilities.
• Knowledge and/or use of six sigma methods preferred.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques a plus.
• Knowledge of using 3D Modeling Software, CATIA is preferred.
• Current computer literacy including proficiency in use of full Microsoft Office Suite, MRP system experience AX2012 experience a preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
None required, though 6S, LEAN or Six Sigma is a plus.
