Build What Takes Flight | Assembly Technician

PDS Tech Commercial is hiring an Assembly Technician in Kinston, NC, partnering with a leader in the aviation industry.

• Pay Rate: $35.71 per hour

• Schedule: Monday through Friday

• Shift: Must be able and willing to work any shift, including overtime as needed

What You’ll Do

In this hands-on manufacturing role, you’ll support the continuous flow of aircraft production while maintaining rigorous standards for safety, quality, and accuracy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform production assembly operations on mechanical and/or electronic assemblies and subassemblies, including modules, panels, frames, cables, and related components.

• Assemble and install parts and assemblies using blueprints, drawings, specifications, work orders, and engineering changes.

• Set up and perform manual and automated assembly operations and portable machine functions.

• Perform structural assembly processes including drilling, countersinking, sealing, fastener installation, torquing, varnishing, and painting as required.

• Use hand and power tools, jigs, templates, saws, drilling equipment, and other production tools.

• Use precision measuring instruments to verify work meets required specifications.

• Complete continuity checks and potentially perform quality inspections on work in process and completed assemblies.

• Disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test assemblies and subassemblies when required.

• Perform fabrication, rework, functional testing, and production changes throughout the assembly process.

• Obtain and move the appropriate parts, materials, tools, and assemblies needed to complete assignments.

• Complete required data-gathering transactions and documentation to support assembly progression.

• Identify, document, report, and help investigate discrepancies involving parts, tools, procedures, sequences, or assembly processes.

• Perform routine minor machine maintenance associated with basic preventative maintenance responsibilities.

• Move products safely throughout the immediate manufacturing area using assigned shop equipment and complete necessary transactions to advance products to the next operation.

• Support continuous manufacturing flow by training, coaching, and assisting fellow employees.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and quality-focused work environment, including compliance with Foreign Object Debris prevention and applicable OSHA requirements.

• Train to become MVP qualified and complete additional training or certification provided for assigned work.

Required Qualifications

We’re looking for candidates who bring a strong combination of aviation production experience, technical capability, and attention to detail.

You’ll need:

• High School Diploma/GED or successful WorkKeys Assessment completion.

• Minimum 2 years of aviation production experience or equivalent experience.

• Basic proficiency using a variety of hand and production tools.

• Previous hands-on experience with drilling tools, templates, drilling machines, fasteners, and torquing tools.

• Knowledge of workstation safety, quality practices, Foreign Object Debris requirements, and OSHA regulations.

• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Ability to clearly communicate complex issues to others.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive matters.

• Ability and willingness to work any shift and overtime as needed.

• Ability to successfully complete required post-recruitment training, including:

  • Health & Safety

  • General aircraft familiarization

  • Quality training

Preferred Qualifications

Stand out from the crowd with:

• 5+ years of aviation production experience.

• Vocational school or previous employer training in the use of application tools and associated techniques.

• Experience with aircraft structural assembly and installation processes.

• Experience performing tasks such as drilling, sealing, countersinking, fastener installation, varnishing, painting, and subassembly work.

• Experience in Assembler, Sub Assembly, or Assembler/Installer Structures environments.

• Computer proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Excel, including the ability to enter, generate, and retrieve production information.
