A transformer manufacturer is adding short-term mechanical design capacity to clear a drawing backlog. You will work remotely alongside their in-house mechanical design team, converting 3D models into release-ready manufacturing drawings and building models from existing drawings.

This is hands-on design and drafting work on real production hardware — distribution transformer tanks, enclosures, core-coil frame assemblies and sheet metal fabrication. Not a review or coordination role.

What you will be doing

Converting 3D models into complete, dimensioned manufacturing drawing packages
Working the other direction — building accurate 3D models from existing 2D drawings
Sheet metal and weldment design: tanks, enclosures, brackets, covers, mounting details
Applying GD&T and tolerance stack-ups so drawings release cleanly to the shop floor
Maintaining bills of materials alongside the model and drawing set
Working to the client's existing design standards and drawing conventions
What you need

Demonstrated experience designing for power or distribution transformers, or closely comparable heavy electromechanical equipment
Strong Solid Edge capability — or deep fluency in another parametric CAD package (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) and the ability to pick up Solid Edge quickly
Real sheet metal and weldment design experience, flat patterns through to fabrication drawings
A track record of drawings that went to a shop floor and got built without a string of RFIs
Comfortable working remotely with a distributed team and holding your own schedule
Able to travel to Pine Bluff, Arkansas for an initial onboarding visit and then roughly every six weeks
Helpful, not required


Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, ASTM or CSA standards as they apply to transformers
Exposure to thermal or cooling design, or short-circuit force considerations
Experience picking up an unfamiliar company's drawing standards quickly
The engagement

Six months through CTS International, with the possibility of extension. Remote, with travel to the client site in Pine Bluff, Arkansas — an onboarding visit at the start and then approximately every six weeks. Travel is covered. Start target is within about a month.

Rate: $55–70 per hour W-2, depending on experience and depth of transformer work. Corp-to-corp is also acceptable; independent contractors and candidates working through their own entity or an incorporated vendor are welcome to apply.
