PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to find a talented Mechanical Definition Engineer ready to turn customer requirements into precise, executable engineering solutions.

The Opportunity 

As a Mechanical Definition Engineer, you’ll serve as a critical connection point between Sales, Engineering, Configuration Management, and downstream operations. You’ll translate customer requirements and engineering inputs into actionable build lists, tasking packages, requirements documentation, and configuration deliverables. 

Your work will help ensure that aircraft modifications and completions are accurately defined, properly coordinated, and delivered in alignment with customer expectations, program schedules, and engineering standards. 

What You’ll Do 

In this role, you will: 

Translate customer sales requirements from the Specification and Interior Design Drawing (IDD), along with Baseline Engineering inputs, into actionable engineering deliverables. 

Develop and maintain Preliminary Build Lists and Initial Build Lists for assigned aircraft programs. 

Create and manage preliminary aircraft tasking and engineering work packages. 

Partner with Design Engineering teams to ensure technical requirements are clearly defined and understood. 

Coordinate across Completions Engineering, Baseline Engineering, Configuration Management, and program leadership. 

Develop, maintain, and verify Requirements Verification Matrices (RVMs) to support requirement traceability and compliance. 

Generate Completions Tasking and Scheduling (CTS) tasking to support aircraft design activities. 

Participate in key program milestones, including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Engineering Design Reviews (EDR), Program Reviews, and Definition Hand-Off meetings. 

Support aircraft configuration definition using SmarTeam and related engineering systems. 

Monitor engineering deliverables for alignment with customer requirements, program schedules, and configuration baselines. 

Investigate engineering definition discrepancies, build issues, and process deviations through root-cause and corrective-action analysis. 

Partner with Configuration Management on Build List Change Request (BLCR) processing to maintain product definition integrity throughout the aircraft lifecycle. 

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives involving engineering processes, tasking methodologies, and requirements management. 

Provide clear technical updates and status reports to engineering teams and leadership. 

What You Bring 

Required Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline. 

Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, aircraft completions, or product definition activities. 

Working knowledge of engineering documentation and configuration management principles. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Ability to manage multiple assignments in a dynamic engineering environment. 

Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Experience in aircraft completions, aerospace, or aircraft modification programs. 

Knowledge of engineering change and configuration control processes. 

Experience developing or maintaining build lists and aircraft configuration documentation. 

Familiarity with requirements management and verification methodologies. 

Experience supporting cross-functional engineering reviews and program milestones. 

Understanding of root-cause analysis and corrective-action processes. 

Experience with SmarTeam or similar engineering/configuration management systems.
