Chipton-Ross is seeking a Machinist 1 for a contract opportunity in San Diego, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): o High School Diploma or equivalent and 2-5 years of relevant experience. o Experience setting up & running CNC waterjet. o Able to understand machining theory and strategy o Able to understand and interrogate mechanical drawings and tolerances o Ability to use common machine shop hand and measurement tools o Self-motivation, able to accomplish a high level of work o Team player, actively participating in continuous improvement projects with coworkers. o Demonstrate high skill level with the desire for continuous learning o Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. o Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks. o Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills. o Ability to work with limited supervision including using sound judgment to execute independent decisions and departmental initiatives. o Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals. o Highly self-motivated and directed. o Keen attention to detail. o Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment. o Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to change.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Looking for a Machinist 1 to support our machining department. As a member of the machining department, you'll get to waterjet machine composites.
Responsibilities: Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): o Experience programming with Flow software. o Prior experience in an aerospace environment preferred. o Experience with 5-Axis waterjet. o Experience with FLOW waterjet programming.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School Diploma/GED is required. School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS: 9/80 work week. 2nd shift, 1PM - 10PM. This position will serve on-site at our San Diego structures site.
