Material Support Manager: Lead the Supply Chain That Keeps Aircraft Moving

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in the aviation industry to hire an experienced Material Support Manager in Opa Locka, Florida. The Opportunity

As the Material Support Manager, you will lead the people, processes, and supplier relationships responsible for keeping aircraft maintenance operations supplied and on schedule.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands the demands of an FAA Part 145 aviation MRO environment and can successfully balance purchasing, materials planning, inventory, parts, warehouse operations, supplier performance, and urgent customer commitments.

You will lead a large, multi-functional team while partnering closely with the General Manager, internal departments, suppliers, and carriers to solve problems, improve processes, and ensure critical materials are available when and where they are needed.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

• Lead and develop teams supporting purchasing, buyer/planning, warehouse, stockroom, inventory, and material handling operations.
  
• Perform supervisory responsibilities, including work assignments, scheduling, attendance monitoring, training, certifications, performance management, disciplinary actions, and hiring recommendations.
  
• Monitor buyer/planner performance, customer service levels, sustaining activities, projects, and key performance metrics.
  
• Regularly communicate operational status, risks, and issues to management.
  
• Oversee the sourcing and selection of vendors for aircraft parts, components, materials, and related services.
  
• Negotiate with vendors and carriers regarding pricing, delivery, quality, quantity, and service expectations.
  
• Administer supplier and carrier contracts to ensure agreed-upon products and services are delivered.
  
• Monitor supplier performance and work directly with vendors to resolve delivery, quality, quantity, and service issues.
  
• Partner across departments to resolve challenges involving lead times, deliveries, component discrepancies, inventory, and supplier performance.
  
• Research and resolve invoice, billing, credit hold, and payment discrepancies.
  
• Lead efforts to investigate complex inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and establish corrective actions.
  
• Review, develop, and improve processes and procedures supporting buyer/planner and material handling operations.
  
• Oversee special projects involving inventory, vendors, operational challenges, and material availability.
  
• Conduct quarterly and annual employee performance reviews.
  
• Support process improvement initiatives across the materials organization.
  
• Represent department leadership when the General Manager or Director is unavailable.
  

Required Qualifications

We're looking for an experienced aviation materials leader who brings:

• FAA Part 145 aviation MRO or repair station experience.
  
• At least 5 years of manager-level people leadership experience.
  
• Experience with combined responsibility across purchasing, materials planning, inventory, parts, stockroom, and/or warehouse operations.
  
• Experience supporting time-sensitive aircraft maintenance operations and customer commitments.
  
• Strong supplier-management, negotiation, prioritization, and operational problem-solving skills.
  
• Experience leading large, multi-functional teams and partnering with senior operational leadership or a General Manager.
  
• Approximately 5+ years of experience within buyer/planner, warehouse, stockroom, material handling, or related functions.
  
• Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  
• Strong computer skills, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, inventory management systems, and web-based applications.
  
• Knowledge of contract interpretation, negotiation, and financial analysis concepts.
  
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a multi-project environment.
  
• Effective written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  

Preferred Qualifications

You'll stand out if you also bring:

• Strong knowledge of Repair Station System inventory processes, including cycle counts, perpetual inventory, and work-in-progress inventory audits.
  
• Knowledge of process improvement methodologies and their practical application.
  
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements related to the packaging and transportation of hazardous materials.
  
• Working knowledge of FAA, JAA, TC, and DOT regulations applicable to export shipments.
  
• Familiarity with fundamental business law concepts related to offers, acceptance, agreements, contracts, and ownership.
  
• Demonstrated success coaching employees, developing talent, and building high-performing teams.
  

Transferable Aviation Experience

While aviation MRO and repair station experience is the primary target, relevant experience may also include:

• Military aviation supply, logistics, maintenance support, or materials leadership.
  
• Commercial aviation maintenance with direct materials leadership responsibility.
  
• Aerospace parts or component repair environments involving urgent, time-sensitive operational support.
  

Candidates whose experience is primarily general healthcare or global procurement without comparable aviation MRO operational responsibilities may not align as closely with the requirements of this position.
