PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation industry to hire a highly skilled NDI Technician in Kinston, North Carolina.

This is an opportunity to put advanced Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) expertise to work where precision matters. You'll use ultrasonic testing and other NDI techniques to evaluate critical materials, components, and processes without causing damage, helping ensure they meet demanding engineering, quality, and customer requirements.

What You'll Do

As an NDI Technician, you'll play an important role in maintaining quality and compliance throughout manufacturing and inspection operations. Your responsibilities may include:

• Perform Non-Destructive Inspection to evaluate materials and components without causing damage.
  
• Utilize ultrasonic testing techniques, including phased array, pulse-echo, shear wave, and through-transmission methods.
  
• Set up, standardize, and operate NDI equipment in accordance with applicable requirements.
  
• Process and inspect parts, interpret results, and determine acceptance or rejection.
  
• Verify that parts and processes comply with customer engineering requirements.
  
• Accurately document inspection findings and results.
  
• Establish inspection techniques using approved procedures and work instructions for final approval.
  
• Conduct system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards.
  
• Identify non-conformances and initiate appropriate documentation according to established specifications, processes, and procedures.
  
• Perform audit surveillance of non-destructive inspection processes.
  
• Provide technical guidance and supervision to trainees as appropriate.
  

Depending on certification and job level, NDI methods may also include liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, thermography, shearography, eddy current, and radiography.

For Level III Responsibilities

Where applicable, Level III responsibilities may also include:

• Interpret codes, standards, specifications, and contractual documents governing NDT methods.
  
• Assume technical responsibility for NDT facilities, equipment, and personnel.
  
• Prepare, verify, and approve procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
  
• Provide training, examinations, and certification support for personnel.
  
• Oversee NDI processes and ensure non-conformances are appropriately identified and documented.
  

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this position, candidates should have:

• Associate degree in a related discipline plus 3 years of related experience.
  
• NAS 410 certification.
  
• Ultrasonic Testing Level I certification.
  
• Minimum of 40 hours of formal UT Level I training.
  
• Ultrasonic Testing Level II certification.
  
• Minimum of 40 hours of formal UT Level II training.
  
• Proof of 800+ hours of Ultrasonic Testing on-the-job training (OJT).
  
• Demonstrated hands-on ultrasonic testing experience.
  
• Experience with UT methods such as:
  
  
  
  • Phased array
    
  • Pulse-echo
    
  • Shear wave
    
  • Through transmission
    
  
  
  
• Ability to set up and standardize NDI equipment.
  
• Ability to interpret and evaluate inspection results for acceptance or rejection.
  
• Ability to accurately document inspection findings and non-conformances.
  

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who bring the following experience may stand out:

• Previous NDI/NDT experience in aviation, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing.
  
• Experience performing audit surveillance of NDI processes.
  
• Demonstrated ability to develop or establish inspection techniques from approved procedures and work instructions.
  
• Experience providing technical guidance, training, or supervision to NDI trainees.
  
• Broad exposure to additional NDI methods beyond ultrasonic testing.
  
• Strong working knowledge of applicable NDT codes, standards, engineering requirements, and quality procedures.
