Electronics Technician | PDS Tech Commercial | Aviation Industry
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Pay Rate: $19.58/hour
Duration: 8-Month Contract
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, First Shift | 4/10 Schedule
Are you an electronics technician who enjoys turning engineering designs into working hardware? PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation industry to find a hands-on Electronics Technician ready to fabricate, integrate, troubleshoot, test, and bring complex electronic and mechanical assemblies to life.
In this role, you'll support engineering hardware fabrication and laboratory operations while working with schematics, engineering drawings, electronic components, cables, harnesses, and rack assemblies. Your work will directly contribute to the quality and functionality of hardware used in a high-technology aviation environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As an Electronics Technician, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Fabricate electronic/electrical chassis and mechanical racks using engineering drawings and specifications.
Integrate, cable, route, and dress rack assemblies.
Build, route, and test Cat5e/Cat6 cables within rack systems.
Perform cable and harness assembly, including:
Wire cutting and stripping
Cable preparation and layup
Connectorization
Crimping and pinning
Soldering
Jacketing, braiding, and molding
Lacing tape and spot ties for open-wire bundles
Evaluate, troubleshoot, repair, and test electronic and mechanical equipment and assemblies.
Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
Operate laboratory equipment and related hand tools/equipment.
Conduct functional and in-process testing and accurately document test results.
Perform in-process inspections in accordance with quality specifications.
Collaborate with management and engineering teams to identify and improve process documentation.
Communicate technical issues and information effectively with customers and vendors.
Work independently while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and workmanship.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hands-on experience with electronic and/or mechanical assembly, fabrication, troubleshooting, or testing.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and engineering drawings.
Experience with cable and harness assembly techniques.
Ability to use laboratory equipment and related tools.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Ability to occasionally climb ladders as required by the work environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
AA degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field — highly preferred.
Experience integrating and cabling electronic rack assemblies.
Experience with Cat5e/Cat6 cable installation and testing.
Experience with soldering, crimping, connectorization, pinning, and harness fabrication.
Previous experience in an engineering laboratory, manufacturing, aerospace, or aviation environment.
