Chipton-Ross is seeking a CNC Machinist IV for a contract opportunity in Buena Park, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): 8+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience, preferably in a die cast or high-volume manufacturing environment Demonstrated expert-level experience with 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining centers Strong background machining aluminum and/or zinc die cast components Proven experience leading machine setups, process validation, first-piece approvals, and troubleshooting complex machining issues Advanced working knowledge of CNC programming (G-code), including editing, optimization, and process improvement Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation Experience analyzing CMM data and implementing corrective actions to improve machining performance Proficiency with precision measuring instruments, advanced inspection techniques, and root-cause analysis Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to junior machinists and operators Experience supporting production scheduling, workflow prioritization, and cross-functional problem solving
Recognized as a technical resource capable of independently driving process improvements and resolving manufacturing challenges
Strong leadership, ownership, accountability, and analytical problem-solving skills
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as the technical lead for assigned machining cells, providing guidance and support to Machinist I, II, and III team members
Lead complex machine setups, process development activities, and troubleshooting efforts to maintain quality and productivity targets
Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams to implement process improvements and resolve manufacturing issues
Review and optimize tooling strategies, cutting parameters, setups, and machining processes to improve efficiency and reduce scrap
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, uptime, cycle time reduction, and cost savings Assist in training, onboarding, and development of less experienced machinists and operators
Support development and documentation of machining best practices, setup standards, and process controls Act as the escalation point for technical machining issues requiring advanced troubleshooting and process expertise
Provide recommendations for equipment, tooling, fixturing, and process improvements to support capacity and productivity goals
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Accredited HSD/GED
