PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer IV to support an industry-leading innovator in power generation and energy technology.   • Schedule: 1st Shift | 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

  • Pay Rate: $61.70 per hour

As a Gas Turbine Hot Gas Path Design Engineer, you will serve as a key member of the Fleet Engineering team, specializing in advanced structural analysis and life assessment of critical turbine components. Your expertise will help ensure the reliability, safety, and availability of gas turbines operating worldwide.

What You'll Do

Advanced Engineering Analysis

  • Develop and execute high-fidelity finite element analyses (FEA) using ANSYS to evaluate gas turbine hardware under complex thermal and mechanical loading conditions.

  • Perform structural, modal, and forced response analyses to assess component behavior and integrity.

  • Interpret analytical results and develop Campbell diagrams to characterize dynamic performance.

Component Life Assessment

  • Conduct life prediction analyses including:

    • Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF)

    • High Cycle Fatigue (HCF)

    • Creep

    • Oxidation

    • Fracture Mechanics

  • Evaluate component durability and support long-term reliability strategies.

Root Cause Analysis & Technical Support

  • Provide technical expertise for urgent engineering requests from field and service teams.

  • Participate in and support root cause investigations to identify failure mechanisms and implement corrective actions.

  • Develop practical engineering solutions that enhance fleet performance and reliability.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with global engineering teams in a remote environment.

  • Present technical findings and recommendations during design reviews and stakeholder meetings.

  • Translate complex engineering analyses into clear, actionable insights.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 6+ years of engineering design and analysis experience.

  • Minimum 6+ years of ANSYS Classic and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.

  • Minimum 3+ years of NX (Unigraphics) CAD experience.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Structural mechanics

    • Thermal analysis

    • Fatigue and lifing methodologies

    • Dynamic response analysis

  • Knowledge of GD&T standards and engineering drawing interpretation.

  • Experience performing tolerance stack-up analyses.

  • Experience using PLM or Teamcenter configuration management systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within global, remote teams.

  • Must be a U.S. Person able to access export-controlled information.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering.

  • Experience leading or supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.

  • Background supporting engineering services organizations.

  • Python programming experience for engineering applications and automation.

  • Prior gas turbine, power generation, aerospace, or rotating equipment experience.

Pay Details: $61.70 per hour
