Location: Savannah, GA | Payrate: $87.40/hour | Schedule: 1st shift, 8am to 5pm 

 

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading aerospace organization to find an accomplished Materials and Processing Engineer ready to tackle complex technical challenges and help shape the future of aircraft design and production.

This is a high-level engineering opportunity for a technical expert who can guide major engineering programs, develop innovative solutions, and serve as a trusted authority in Materials and Processes Engineering. 

You’ll work on projects involving critical engineering problems, advanced technologies, and extensive development, balancing technical performance, cost, schedule, quality, and long-term product objectives. Your expertise will directly support the development and production of advanced aerospace products and services. 

What you’ll do 

  • Lead and guide the successful completion of major engineering programs and complex technical initiatives. 

  • Select appropriate engineering methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve challenging Materials and Processes issues. 

  • Serve as a recognized technical authority and resource for engineering teams and stakeholders. 

  • Anticipate complex technical challenges and develop creative, effective solutions, standards, and engineering guidelines. 

  • Make authoritative technical recommendations while balancing product performance, cost, schedule, and quality. 

  • Generate and communicate technical requirements to external suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, including Powerplant, Environmental Control, Structures, Electrical, and Mechanical. 

  • Review proposed designs and workflows using SmarTeam and CATIA. 

  • Develop and support EAR-approved test plans and results reports. 

  • Provide manufacturing liaison support, including successful Material Review Board (MRB) integration. 

  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality and process effectiveness. 

  • Evaluate and select materials for use in both pressurized and unpressurized aircraft environments. 

  • Support the revision and development of Materials and Processes specifications. 

  • Monitor developments in aerospace materials, processes, and environmental regulations and recommend innovations that improve products and processes. 

  • Consider regulatory requirements related to materials and chemical substances, including REACH, TSCA, and EPA requirements. 

  • Work independently with broad technical latitude while maintaining focus on long-range program objectives. 

What you bring 

Required qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline applicable to the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • 10+ years of experience in a specific technical discipline or 15+ years of broad engineering experience across multiple technical disciplines. 

  • Extensive experience solving complex engineering problems and developing innovative technical solutions. 

  • Strong understanding of Materials and Processes Engineering principles. 

  • Experience working independently and making technically authoritative decisions. 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams. 

  • Ability to balance technical requirements with cost, schedule, quality, and product objectives. 

  • Ability to work full-time onsite. 

Preferred qualifications 

  • Advanced degree in engineering or a related technical discipline. 

  • Aerospace or aircraft manufacturing experience. 

  • Experience generating and communicating technical requirements to suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering organizations. 

  • Experience with SmarTeam and CATIA. 

  • Experience developing EAR-approved test plans and results reports. 

  • Demonstrated success with manufacturing liaison and MRB integration. 

  • Experience implementing continuous improvement projects. 

  • Experience selecting materials for pressurized and unpressurized aircraft environments. 

  • Experience revising Materials and Processes specifications. 

  • Knowledge of materials containing chemical substances subject to international and national environmental regulations, including REACH, TSCA, and EPA requirements.

Pay Details: $87.40 per hour
