Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (12-Month Assignment)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | First Shift | 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM | 9/80 Schedule

Pay Rate: $60.00 - $90.00 per hour

As a Software Quality Engineer, you will provide comprehensive quality oversight across software and hardware development activities for a high-profile aviation program. This role is ideal for a seasoned quality professional with deep knowledge of DO-178C, embedded aviation systems, and quality auditing who is ready to help deliver safe, reliable, and innovative aerospace solutions.



What You'll Do



In this role, you will:




  • Perform software and hardware process audits throughout the complete development lifecycle
  • Review, monitor, and approve engineering work products, release packages, and supporting documentation
  • Participate in software and hardware technical reviews and formal quality assessments
  • Prepare and present Software Quality Assurance (SQA) reports, findings, and status updates
  • Conduct supplier audits and provide oversight of supplier deliverables, activities, and compliance requirements
  • Witness and monitor testing activities to ensure products meet established quality, reliability, and program objectives
  • Collaborate closely with systems engineers, software developers, test teams, and project leadership
  • Mentor engineering teams on quality processes, standards, and compliance expectations
  • Ensure adherence to established development processes, guidelines, and quality requirements
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives and quality best practices
  • Quickly become proficient in program-specific quality audit procedures and workflows
  • Work independently while supporting a highly collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment


Required Qualifications




  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in:

    • Computer Science
    • Computer Engineering
    • Systems Engineering
    • Or a related technical discipline


  • 7+ years of experience in:

    • Software Engineering
    • Systems Engineering
    • Software Quality Assurance
    • Quality Engineering


  • Extensive hands-on experience with DO-178C and applicable supplements
  • Strong understanding of software and hardware development lifecycle processes
  • Experience conducting process and product audits
  • Practical experience supporting embedded aviation software development
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate quality findings effectively during technical and formal reviews
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision


Preferred Qualifications




  • Experience with DO-254 hardware assurance processes
  • Knowledge of RTCA DO-330 Software Tool Qualification Considerations
  • Background supporting complex aerospace, aviation, military, or defense programs
  • Experience with supplier quality oversight and compliance auditing
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulatory requirements and quality frameworks
  • Experience mentoring engineering teams on process compliance and quality standards
  • Proven success working within highly regulated environments

Pay Details: $60.00 to $90.00 per hour
