Senior Engineering Technician
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a highly skilled Senior EngineeringTechnician to support cutting-edge laboratory and prototype development programs. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional with experience in vacuum systems, gas handling systems, laboratory equipment, and prototype assembly.
You'll work alongside engineers, scientists, and senior technicians to build, maintain, troubleshoot, and operate sophisticated laboratory systems while helping achieve critical research and development milestones.
Candidates should possess experience in at least 3 of the following 5 areas:
Configuring laboratory test systems using CF, KF, NPT, and VCR fittings for vacuum and gas-handling systems
Wiring assemblies and creating test cables
Operating laboratory equipment such as:
Multimeters
Signal generators
Oscilloscopes
Lakeshore temperature measurement systems
Vacuum pumps
Vacuum gauges
Troubleshooting and performing maintenance on:
Compressors
Scroll vacuum pumps
Turbomolecular vacuum pumps
Working with:
Chilled water systems
Liquefied gas systems
Independently perform electrical and mechanical assembly of prototype systems.
Assemble laboratory equipment and experimental hardware.
Build wiring harnesses, test cables, and electrical assemblies.
Assist engineers and scientists with prototype development activities.
Configure and maintain laboratory vacuum systems.
Install and troubleshoot components utilizing:
CF fittings
KF fittings
NPT fittings
VCR fittings
Support gas handling and distribution systems.
Perform routine maintenance on vacuum equipment.
Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
Utilize:
Oscilloscopes
Multimeters
Signal generators
Vacuum gauges
Temperature measurement systems
Support testing, experimentation, and research activities.
Assist in setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
Diagnose and repair laboratory equipment issues.
Perform preventative maintenance on:
Vacuum pumps
Compressors
Cooling systems
Gas delivery systems
Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Assist with documenting systems, procedures, and processes.
Support SOP development and maintenance.
Maintain organized laboratory workspaces.
Participate in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
Promote safe operation of cryogenic, vacuum, and electromagnetic systems.
High School Diploma or GED.
4-6 years of relevant technical experience.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Hands-on experience with laboratory systems and equipment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
Experience in an R&D or laboratory environment.
Experience with:
Vacuum systems
Gas handling systems
Cryogenic equipment
Electromagnetic systems
SOP development and technical documentation experience.
LabVIEW experience.
Python programming experience.
Dilution Refrigeration (DR) troubleshooting experience.
Experience working closely with engineers and scientists.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Vacuum system expertise
Gas handling system experience
Strong electrical and mechanical assembly skills
Wiring and cable fabrication experience
Laboratory equipment troubleshooting abilities
Ability to work independently
Strong organizational and documentation skills

$40.00/hr pay rate
