Schedule: Monday-Friday | First Shift | 9:00 AM-5:30 PM

Pay Rate: Starting at $85.22 per hour

Job Type: Full-Time Consultant | 6-Month Assignment

As a Space Communications Payload Systems Engineer, you'll join a high-performing engineering team focused on designing, developing, and delivering state-of-the-art communications systems for space-based applications. What You'll Do



In this role, you will:




  • Design and develop next-generation RF, digital, and optical satellite communications systems and payload architectures
  • Support technical trade studies and contribute to proposal development efforts
  • Define, manage, and verify communication system, subsystem, and component requirements
  • Develop system-level concepts of operations (CONOPS), functional analyses, and performance assessments
  • Perform RF and optical communications analyses, including link budgets, capacity studies, reliability assessments, and signal performance evaluations
  • Create and enhance engineering analysis tools using MATLAB and object-oriented software platforms
  • Develop and validate algorithms that meet system performance and functional requirements
  • Oversee payload hardware design and development activities with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Participate in design reviews and requirements verification activities
  • Support system integration, validation, testing, troubleshooting, and verification efforts
  • Contribute throughout the full lifecycle of satellite programs, from concept development through launch and on-orbit testing




Required Qualifications



To be successful in this role, you should have:




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Experience or academic background involving communications subsystems or communications units
  • Experience or academic background in payload design, analysis, development, and/or verification
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
  • This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.                                               

     
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems engineering skills




Preferred Qualifications



You will stand out if you have:




  • 14+ years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working on satellite communications systems or space-based payloads
  • Knowledge of satellite or terrestrial RF and digital communications systems
  • Understanding of antenna theory and RF performance metrics such as G/T, EIRP, gain-loss analysis, and link budgets
  • Experience developing and verifying requirements for complex aerospace systems
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and C++
  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field

Pay Details: $85.22 per hour
