Lead Advanced Flight Management System Development as a Principal Software Engineer!

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Engineer to support complex Flight Management System (FMS) programs within the aerospace industry.

This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer with expertise in software development, systems engineering, requirements management, and Flight Management Systems (FMS). The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader, consultant, and key contributor on complex aerospace programs while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and stakeholders.

What You'll Do

Flight Management System (FMS) Engineering

• Support the development, integration, and enhancement of Flight Management System programs.
  
• Analyze and manage system requirements using DOORS.
  
• Support software and systems engineering activities throughout the program lifecycle.
  
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure requirements align with program objectives.
  

Software Development & Systems Engineering

• Design, modify, develop, and implement software applications and system solutions.
  
• Support software architecture, integration, and validation activities.
  
• Participate in requirements analysis and system-level design efforts.
  
• Ensure compliance with aerospace development standards and requirements.
  

Requirements Management

• Utilize DOORS for:

  • Verification support

• Maintain accurate requirements documentation and relationships.
  
• Support verification and validation activities.
  

Technical Leadership

• Coordinate activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Support project planning, execution, and issue resolution.
  
• Influence technical direction and engineering decisions.
  

Complex Program Support

• Consult on highly complex aerospace projects.
  
• Support customer interactions and technical reviews.
  
• Provide expertise for problem-solving, risk assessment, and program execution.
  
• Drive successful delivery of technical objectives.
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in:

• 8+ years of engineering experience.
  
• Experience designing and developing software applications and systems.

• Significant experience utilizing the DOORS database.
  
• Ability to coordinate and lead technical work across engineering teams.
  
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Flight Management System (FMS) experience.
  
• Boeing Flight Management System (FMS) experience.
  
• Extensive DOORS experience supporting FMS programs.
  
• Aerospace software development experience.
  
• Systems engineering and requirements management expertise.
  
• Experience supporting certification, integration, and verification activities.
