Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Pay Rate: $40.70/hour

As a Structural Technician III, you will play a critical role in assembling, fitting, repairing, and modifying aerospace structures that support groundbreaking aviation and defense programs. Your expertise will help ensure that every component meets exacting quality and safety standards while contributing to products that push the boundaries of aerospace technology.



From reading technical blueprints to installing critical fasteners and performing structural modifications, you'll be an essential part of a team dedicated to precision, performance, and mission success.





What You'll Do



Structural Assembly & Fabrication




  • Assemble major structural components and aerospace vehicle assemblies.
  • Perform minor part-fitting operations, including:

    • Filing
    • Sawing
    • Burring
    • Trimming
    • Framing
    • Riveting
    • Drilling
    • Reaming


  • Align parts and assemblies using jigs, fixtures, templates, and specialized tooling.


Installation & Modification




  • Install various aerospace fasteners, including rivets and hi-locks.
  • Modify incomplete and completed assemblies to incorporate engineering changes.
  • Complete installations in accordance with technical drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain proper edge distance, pitch, and assembly standards.


Inspection & Quality Assurance




  • Measure components using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments.
  • Verify dimensions and ensure compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Monitor production quality through statistical process controls and inspection procedures.
  • Support safety, quality, and regulatory compliance initiatives.


Technical Documentation




  • Interpret and work from:

    • Blueprints
    • Schematics
    • Technical drawings
    • Manuals
    • Engineering publications


  • Follow manufacturing and assembly procedures with accuracy and attention to detail.




Required Qualifications



Education & Experience




  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant structural assembly, fabrication, or aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Higher-level education may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement.


Technical Skills




  • Must own and maintain tools in good working condition.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, manuals, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience with structural assembly and minor part fitting techniques.
  • Experience with repair and refinishing processes, including airframe corrosion removal where applicable.
  • Ability to install aerospace fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks.
  • Strong understanding of precision measurement and quality requirements.




Preferred Qualifications




  • Aerospace and Defense industry experience.
  • Background supporting the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA, or military programs.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
  • Experience working in highly regulated manufacturing or aviation environments.

  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting, and climbing stairs or steps.
  • Repetitive hand, arm, and finger movements requiring strong dexterity.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent visual abilities, including:

    • Close vision
    • Distance vision
    • Depth perception
    • Color differentiation


  • Strong hearing abilities, including distinguishing tones and sound levels.


Work Environment




  • Frequent exposure to outdoor elements and changing weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes and hazardous materials.
  • Frequent exposure to loud manufacturing and production environments.


Safety-Sensitive Position



This role directly supports the safety and security of people, equipment, and aerospace assets. Responsibilities may include:




  • Inspecting aerospace structures and equipment.
  • Performing aviation-related duties.
  • Operating or assisting with vehicles, machinery, and heavy equipment.
