Schedule: Hybrid | 2 Days In Office (Wednesday & Thursday) | Flexible Schedule Based on Work Requirements | Typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $ 74.64 to $84.64 based on Experience

As a Senior Mechanical Systems Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, modification, and certification of aircraft mechanical systems across Learjet, Challenger, and Global aircraft platforms. You'll work on unique defense modification programs that offer significant variety and technical challenges, supporting multiple projects that range from conceptual design through implementation and certification.

This role provides the opportunity to collaborate with suppliers, project managers, electrical engineers, structures teams, and customers while helping bring innovative aircraft modifications to life.


What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

Lead Mechanical Systems Design Efforts

  • Prepare engineering specifications, mechanical drawings, reports, and design documentation related to aircraft mechanical system modifications.

  • Develop new system designs and support existing aircraft modifications from concept to implementation.

  • Evaluate green aircraft configurations and determine compliance strategies through analysis, testing, or a combination of both.

Support Aircraft Modification Programs

  • Work on a variety of defense and special mission aircraft modification projects.

  • Coordinate mechanical systems designs across Learjet, Challenger, and Global aircraft programs.

  • Research system requirements and support design reviews throughout project lifecycles.

Collaborate Across Engineering Teams

  • Work closely with project management, electrical engineering, structures engineering, and other technical teams.

  • Coordinate with external suppliers and vendors to ensure successful project execution.

  • Review supplier deliverables and internal work package documentation.

Drive Technical Solutions

  • Conduct trade studies, impact analyses, root cause investigations, and engineering evaluations.

  • Support troubleshooting efforts during aircraft build, integration, and testing activities.

  • Research component specifications and recommend appropriate solutions.

Support Customers and New Business Opportunities

  • Contribute to statements of work, proposals, and bids for new customer requests.

  • Assist with defining aircraft configuration requirements and optional system integrations.

  • Provide technical expertise throughout project planning and execution.

Ensure Compliance and Quality

  • Support certification activities and compliance demonstrations.

  • Coordinate design solutions that align with FAA, EASA, TCCA, and customer requirements.

  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.


Required Qualifications

To succeed in this position, candidates should possess:

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in:

    • Mechanical Engineering

    • Aerospace Engineering

    • Electrical Engineering

    • Or a related engineering discipline

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a mechanical design engineering role

  • Experience supporting aircraft systems design, modification, or certification programs

  • Ability to independently manage engineering assignments from concept through completion

Technical Expertise

  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory certification requirements, including:

    • FAA

    • EASA

    • TCCA

  • Strong understanding of mechanical system design requirements for CFR Part 25 aircraft

  • Knowledge of aircraft materials, standard parts, manufacturing methods, and engineering procedures

  • Ability to define requirements, develop technical solutions, and execute projects successfully

  • Experience conducting engineering analyses, trade studies, and design reviews

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities

  • Ability to decompose moderately complex projects into manageable engineering tasks

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Pay Details: $74.64 to $84.64 per hour
