PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer II to support an industry-leading organization at the forefront of global energy innovation. In this role, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, manufacturing partners, and suppliers to drive design improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and product enhancements that help shape the future of energy technology. What You'll Do

As a Mechanical Design Engineer II, you'll take ownership of component modifications and support products throughout the design-to-manufacturing lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:

Engineering & Design

  • Lead mechanical design modifications and cost reduction initiatives for combustion-related hardware.

  • Review supplier quotations and sourcing proposals for design improvement opportunities.

  • Develop cost models using tools such as Apriori or similar engineering estimation platforms.

  • Create and modify 3D models, engineering drawings, and product definitions using NX and related design tools.

  • Generate and maintain PLM Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering change documentation.

  • Support hardware procurement, manufacturing, assembly, and product implementation activities.

  • Collaborate with drafting, sourcing, manufacturing, aerodynamic, heat transfer, materials, repair, and value engineering teams.

  • Work directly with suppliers to evaluate manufacturability, cost savings opportunities, and design feasibility.

Manufacturing & Product Support

  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations and shop floor teams.

  • Evaluate and disposition non-conforming hardware.

  • Support supplier qualification processes and manufacturing readiness activities.

  • Review Supplier Deviation Requests (SDRs) and engineering change impacts.

  • Track modified components through assembly, validation, and fleet introduction phases.

  • Help ensure designs meet quality, performance, and production requirements.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university.

  • Experience with:

    • NX (Mechanical Modeling and Routing Modules)

    • Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) and Drafting

    • PLM systems

    • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

    • Engineering drafting standards and tolerance stack-up fundamentals

    • ANSYS Classic

  • Strong mechanical design and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative engineering environment.

  • Comfortable working onsite full-time in Greenville, SC.

  • Ability to participate in a comprehensive in-person interview process.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing, analyzing, or manufacturing gas turbine combustion components, including:

    • Fuel nozzles

    • End covers

    • Casings

    • Caps and liners

    • Transition pieces

    • Flow sleeves

    • TP aft frames

    • Crossfire tubes

  • Familiarity with gas turbine combustion systems and associated engineering practices.

  • Knowledge of advanced lifing methods, design methodologies, and engineering tools used within large-scale energy equipment environments.

  • Experience supporting product development through manufacturing and field implementation.

Pay Details: $53.15 per hour
