Position Details



Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (6-Month Contract)

Location: El Segundo, CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday | First Shift | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: Starting at $85.22 per hour

As a Systems Engineer, you'll join a highly skilled engineering team developing advanced space-based communication systems for commercial, civil, and national security applications. Working across the full system lifecycle, you'll contribute to the design, analysis, integration, and verification of sophisticated digital communication payloads that support the future of satellite technology.



This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with customers, program leadership, integration teams, suppliers, and technical experts while working on innovative projects that push the boundaries of aerospace engineering.



What You'll Do



System Design & Development




  • Design and develop next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems.
  • Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point digital signal processing (DSP) architectures.
  • Create and manage system requirements, interfaces, and technical allocations for communication payloads.
  • Support the development of advanced digital communication technologies for satellite platforms.


Analysis & Performance Optimization




  • Develop communication system performance and link budgets.
  • Conduct signal processing performance analysis and modeling.
  • Evaluate system capabilities through simulations and performance assessments.
  • Execute trade studies to improve performance, cost efficiency, and program schedules.


Integration & Verification




  • Develop prototype demonstrations using communication subsystem testbeds.
  • Plan and support unit-level integration activities and performance simulations.
  • Support ASIC and FPGA system design, implementation, and verification.
  • Participate in hardware reviews, subsystem validation efforts, and unit sell-off activities.


Cross-Functional Collaboration




  • Partner with systems engineers, software engineers, hardware developers, integration teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Support program execution from concept development through testing and deployment.
  • Contribute technical expertise to design reviews, engineering assessments, and project milestones.


Required Qualifications




  • Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in signal processing or image processing.
  • 10+ years of experience in electronic systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of communication system design and analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.

This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.                                               

 

Education & Experience



One of the following combinations is required:




  • Bachelor's degree with 14+ years of related experience
  • Master's degree with 12+ years of related experience
  • PhD with 9+ years of related experience


Preferred Qualifications




  • Master's degree or advanced studies with a focus on Signal Processing or Algorithm Development.
  • Experience developing algorithms for implementation on ASICs and FPGAs.
  • Strong background in Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
  • Experience with:

    • Simulink
    • Python
    • C++
    • Related modeling and simulation tools


  • Experience supporting hardware-based communications systems.
  • Knowledge of verification planning, validation methodologies, and systems engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated success contributing to or leading complex engineering projects.
  • Experience developing signal processing architectures for aerospace or satellite applications.

Pay Details: $85.22 per hour
