HVAC Setup Technician

Location: Charlotte, NC

Pay Rate: $27.46/hour

Schedule: Must be flexible to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift as needed

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Set Up Technician to support HVAC equipment testing and operations. This is a hands-on role working with chillers, testing equipment, measuring instruments, and control systems to help ensure equipment operates safely and performs as expected.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up HVAC and chiller equipment for testing and operation

• Use hand and pneumatic tools to assemble, adjust, and maintain equipment

• Work with flow, temperature, and pressure measurement devices

• Use precision measuring instruments to verify equipment performance

• Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment issues

• Support operation and setup of chiller control systems

• Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean work area

• Work with technicians and operations teams to support testing activities and equipment reliability

Required Qualifications

• Technical/Business School Certificate, High School Diploma/GED, or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship

• 1+ year of experience using hand and pneumatic tools

• Experience working with flow, temperature, and pressure measuring equipment

• Experience handling precision measuring instruments

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year of HVAC or chiller experience

• Experience working with mechanical and electrical equipment in a shop, industrial, manufacturing, or testing environment

• Experience with chiller control systems such as Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin, or similar platforms

Work Environment

• Frequent standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working around mechanical equipment

• Exposure to varying temperatures, refrigerants, and compressed gases

• Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required to support testing or maintenance activities
