At a Glance

  • Location: On-site in Aurora, IL

  • Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (2nd Shift) with overtime, weekend, and on-call responsibilities as needed

  • Pay: $36.00 - $40.00 per hour based on experience

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician II, you'll play a vital role in maximizing plant performance through preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements. You'll work hands-on with advanced manufacturing and packaging equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production operations.

This position is ideal for a maintenance professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, collaborating across teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

  • Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues.

  • Diagnose equipment failures and serve as the first responder for production machine problems.

  • Maintain and repair equipment including blenders, scales, fillers, cappers, labelers, check weighers, case erectors, palletizers, stretch wrappers, motors, and drives.

  • Utilize electrical testing equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohm meters, and meggers.

  • Interpret electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics and drawings.

  • Complete preventive maintenance schedules and work orders within CMMS systems.

  • Coordinate replacement parts procurement through designated processes.

  • Support equipment reliability, process optimization, and continuous improvement projects.

  • Partner closely with production teams to ensure safe and effective equipment operation.

  • Perform inspections and identify opportunities for corrective and preventive maintenance actions.

  • Mentor maintenance trainees and operators while sharing technical expertise.

  • Support plant safety initiatives and maintain compliance with quality and operational standards.

  • Assist with equipment ownership initiatives and help drive improvements in safety, uptime, and productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, Vocational School Diploma, or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 4 years of industrial maintenance experience.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and industrial systems.

  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings.

  • Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures, Arc Flash requirements, and PPE standards.

  • Understanding of electrical formulas, mechanical math, and industrial power distribution.

  • Experience working with AC/DC motors, drives, wiring, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC I/O systems and industrial networks.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

  • Must possess personal hand tools.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical training in electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.

  • PLC and industrial drive training.

  • Knowledge of NEC standards.

  • Familiarity with UL508A and NFPA 79 codes.

  • Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP.

  • Food manufacturing, processing, or packaging industry experience.

  • Experience with GMP and HACCP environments.

  • Dry powder filling experience.

  • Motion control systems, servo drives, and servo motors experience.

  • Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement experience.

  • Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification or experience.

  • Spanish language skills.

Pay Details: $36.00 to $40.00 per hour
