Summary:
Synthesizes test hardware and instrumentation requirements to support machine shop fabrication, laboratory, and flight test.
Reviews design models and drawings, creates or reviews redlines, and coordinates with design teams to incorporate updates.
Authors manufacturing plans to facilitate build for test hardware and installations.
Sources fabrication and assembly including creation of work statements as needed.
Coordinates fabrication, part sourcing from production, and procurement of parts or material to support testing.
Provides shipside support at the aircraft for test hardware and instrumentation installation.
Performs Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) analysis and develops integrated build plans including work instructions, kitting, tooling, and inspection requirements.
Uses CAD packages including CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent for design and planning.
Coordinates with test engineers, instrumentation engineers, designers, fabrication technicians, and material management personnel.
Supports product testing in flight or lab test environments with knowledge of electrical and mechanical fabrication capabilities.
Requirements:
Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.2+ years of experience in engineering design or manufacturing engineering.
2+ years of experience working with manufacturing planning tools.
2+ years of experience with a design tool (CAD package) like CATIA, Siemens NX, etc.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Preferred: Experience working with MESci.
Preferred: Experience with Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Flight Configuration Changes (FC), or equivalent engineering request for change.
Preferred: Experience supporting product testing in flight or lab test environment.
Preferred: Knowledge of machine shop fabrication capabilities including conventional and CNC machining, EDM, fit and finish tools and processes, and QA inspection.
