PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Flight Control Systems Integration and Safety Engineer to join our partnership with one of the most respected names in the aviation industry. Location: Everett, WA (Remote within PST, Hybrid, or Onsite)
As a Senior Flight Control Systems Integration and Safety Engineer, you will contribute to multiple high-profile aerospace programs, helping ensure the safety, reliability, and certification of critical flight control systems. Working alongside cross-functional teams, suppliers, and regulatory agencies, you will influence the development of technologies that keep aircraft operating safely and efficiently around the globe.
This position offers the opportunity to work with teams of approximately 15-20 engineers on complex projects that directly support commercial aircraft development, production, and fleet operations.
What You'll Do
Flight Control System Design & Integration
Decompose airplane-level requirements into system and component-level requirements.
Gather, define, document, and improve system-level requirements.
Resolve technical and requirements conflicts across multiple stakeholders.
Perform and document analysis and design of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems.
Validate system designs, architectures, and models through detailed engineering analysis.
Safety & Certification Engineering
Lead or support certification activities for flight control systems and components.
Develop certification artifacts including:
System Safety Analyses (SSA)
Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA)
Fault Tree Analyses (FTA)
Demonstrate requirement traceability to regulatory standards.
Resolve certification and compliance challenges while aligning with project objectives.
Present findings to regulatory agencies and support certification efforts.
Testing, Validation & Verification
Participate in system and component-level testing activities.
Monitor test execution and analyze test results.
Author technical reports and review supplier test documentation.
Investigate test failures and develop mitigation strategies.
Support verification and validation efforts throughout the product lifecycle.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with engineering teams across avionics, aerodynamics, software, airplane safety, and pilot operations.
Collaborate with suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory authorities.
Develop innovative solutions that enhance performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Mentor and coach fellow engineers while providing technical leadership.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in:
Aerospace Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Or a related engineering discipline
5-7 years of technical experience working with flight control systems
Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and flight control integration
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of related engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience performing:
System Safety Analysis (SSA)
Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
Common Cause Analysis (CCA)
Single and Multiple Failure Analysis
Knowledge of ARP4754 and ARP4761
Experience with flight control system and component architecture development
Expertise in requirements development, design, analysis, verification, and validation
Experience using requirements management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS
Experience developing regulated, certified, safety-critical hardware and software
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field

Pay Details: $79.04 per hour
