Position Details



Job Title: Field Technician

Employment Type: Full-Time Consultant (12-Month Assignment)

Location: Patuxent River, MD 20670

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Pay Rate: $61.92 per hour

Travel Requirement: Must be willing to travel OCONUS (Outside Continental United States) up to 100% of the time





About the Role



As a Field Technician, you will provide technical support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for advanced avionics and electrical systems. Working in field and customer environments, you'll play a critical role in ensuring aircraft systems remain operational, reliable, and mission-ready.



This position requires a highly skilled and self-directed technician capable of independently diagnosing issues, implementing solutions, and supporting testing, exercises, and operational activities around the globe.





What You'll Do



Aircraft Systems Support




  • Perform maintenance, modifications, and technical support activities on E-2C avionics and electrical systems.
  • Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify aircraft equipment and integrated systems.
  • Support testing operations, exercises, and mission requirements in both domestic and international environments.


Troubleshooting & Diagnostics




  • Analyze equipment performance and identify system deficiencies.
  • Diagnose avionics and electrical malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Resolve technical issues efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.


Field Operations




  • Support customer operations at field and remote locations.
  • Install, upgrade, and remove equipment while ensuring compliance with engineering change requirements.
  • Assist with system integration and operational deployment activities.


Customer Support & Collaboration




  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers and operational teams.
  • Serve as a technical resource for complex maintenance and troubleshooting challenges.
  • Provide guidance and training to customer support personnel when needed.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and professionally to stakeholders.


Continuous Improvement




  • Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements when appropriate.
  • Support technical initiatives that enhance equipment reliability and mission success.
  • Contribute expertise to resolve complex operational and maintenance challenges.




Required Qualifications




  • Associate degree in a relevant technical discipline and four (4) years of specialized E-2C experience, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years of E-2C avionics and electrical systems experience.
  • Strong experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing avionics and electrical systems.
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Broad technical knowledge and practical application experience related to aircraft systems and equipment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions in the field.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally (OCONUS) up to 100% of the time.




Preferred Qualifications




  • Extensive experience supporting military or specialty aircraft platforms.
  • Previous field service or deployed maintenance experience.
  • Experience supporting flight operations, system testing, or operational exercises.
  • Proven ability to train and mentor customers or junior technicians.
  • Strong understanding of integrated avionics systems and aircraft electrical architectures.
  • Experience working in fast-paced operational environments with changing priorities.

Pay Details: $61.92 per hour
