Supplier Quality Engineer
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Lead Supplier Quality Engineer (Aero) to support an industry-leading organization at the forefront of the global energy sector. Schedule: 1st Shift | Flexible start times between 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
Pay Rate: $49.85/hr
As the Lead Supplier Quality Engineer, you will drive supplier quality performance across complex aerospace-inspired gas turbine components and assemblies. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead supplier qualification initiatives, oversee product and process validations, and champion continuous improvement efforts that directly influence product reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced manufacturing processes, strategic suppliers, and cutting-edge energy technologies in a highly visible quality leadership position.
Partner with Sourcing, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to qualify, approve, and develop suppliers aligned with business objectives and sourcing strategies.
Evaluate suppliers supporting critical gas turbine components, including compressor, combustor, and turbine module parts.
Support industrialization efforts with a focus on diversified and small-part manufacturing suppliers.
Drive supplier readiness and long-term capability development initiatives.
Lead product and process qualification activities to ensure supplier readiness for serial production.
Review and approve Manufacturing Process Plans (MPP), Product and Process Quality Plans (PQP), control plans, and inspection plans.
Ensure Critical-to-Quality (CTQ), regulatory, and customer requirements are effectively translated into supplier manufacturing controls.
Validate First Article Inspections (FAI) and ongoing product verification activities.
Monitor process capability metrics and drive corrective actions when targets are not achieved.
Manage Supplier Deviation Requests (SDRs) and assess associated quality risks.
Lead supplier nonconformance investigations in partnership with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Field Operations teams.
Coordinate containment, rework, and recovery activities across supplier facilities and production sites.
Ensure effective issue resolution, documentation, and closure.
Analyze Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) data and identify opportunities for systemic supplier improvements.
Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FMEA activities, and corrective action implementation.
Conduct supplier quality system, process, and product audits.
Verify compliance with quality management systems, procedures, and applicable industry requirements.
Drive sustainable quality improvements that enhance supplier performance and operational outcomes.
Experience working as a Supplier Quality Engineer.
Strong understanding of supplier quality systems, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance methodologies.
Experience leading supplier qualification, process validation, and quality improvement initiatives.
Ability to conduct audits, analyze quality data, and implement corrective actions.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
Degree preferred.
Previous experience supporting suppliers within highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Experience with supplier development and supplier performance management.
Knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI), FMEA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and process capability methodologies.
Experience managing supplier quality for complex components and assemblies.
Background in energy, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or related industries.
